Well well well, what can I say, it seems everyone on dooyoo seems to have at least one top 10 of something lists, so I decided I wanted to be a part of the act, it's only fair ;)! So, anyways, this is my top 10 movies of all time, I have counted trilogies and the likes as individual films, eg, alien quartet take 1 place, not 4, enjoy, I recommend all of these, I personally think they rule!

1) Star Wars Quartet, fair enough, maybe not as popular as they used to be, but I was brought up on star wars, and I loved it, the films are based around a war between the federation and the alliance. They are your typical good verses evil idea, with the federation as the bad guys, and the alliance as the good guys. The first 3 films were actually prequels, and therefore, the newest films, namely the Phantom Menace etc, are all of the prequels, a system I feel, has only made star wars more popular, because we want to know how Darth Vader became so evil, and we want to know more about little Anakin Skywalker, and just how powerful he is! The original trilogy, namely star wars, the empire strikes back, and return of the Jedi, were seen as a marker point in movie technology as they used special effects unlike any ever seen before, and pushed George Lucas right up to the top of the directors mountain. Top film, and the games resulting from the movies are good too!!!! Age Rating PG.

2)I would have to say this has got to be The Alien Quartet, again, yes they are 4 films, but to be perfectly honest, the films 1 and 2 are by far the best! We join Ripley and her crew of marines on a colonised planet, which has been basically taken over by a species of alien, unlike any ever seen before, more deadly than anything ever seen before, and you guessed it, the marines have been sent to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and guess what, they're all outta gum (sorry, I couldn't resist the cheesiness). We end up with only one or 2 survivors from the first film, mainl
y Ripley, who is the star of all 4, and with the new film on the way, I can only imagine that she will be there once again, especially seeing how it is Ridley Scott directing it this time, who incidentally made the original and also the second film, so hopefully aliens 3 and resurrection should be redeemed somewhat! I have to say, these are films not for the weak at heart, horrors make me laugh, thrillers send me to sleep, alien scared the poo out of me simply because it is so atmospheric and dark, be warned! Age Rating 18.

3)Let's lighten the mood somewhat, I would have to put a comedy in here, so I think that would have to be the 2 Toy Story movies, let's face it, everyone loves Disney films in one way or another, and the 2 Toy Story ones quite simply crack me up, especially the outtakes at the end of number 2, where the old cowboy farts in his box, toilet humour at it's proverbial best!!!! We join Woody (Tom Hanks) and the rest of the toys in Andy's room in the first one, with a big move to another house coming up, there's stress enough in the toy ranks, with the whole organisation of who partners who in each box to decide, then along comes Buzz Lightyear, an ego maniac, who thinks he is really a space hero and not just a toy. Woody becomes jealous because he thinks Buzz has replaced him as Andy's favourite toy, and this leads to many hilarious moments. Buzz gets knocked out of the open window and Woody gets the blame, and Woody has to clear his name by rescuing Buzz. Things aren't always as they seem though, when Woody finds Buzz he is dressed in a little apron having cups of tea with other dolls in the evil next door neighbour's house. The sequel is rated by many as better than the first, we again are taken on escapades with Woody and Buzz, all good fun none the less!! Age Rating PG.

4)The Matrix! Perhaps one of the greatest films of all time, I say this is my number 4 film, but in reality, I have such d
ifficulty choosing between my top 5 that to be honest any one of them could have taken the top spot, and on most other days, The Matrix probably would have. This has got to be one of the most freaky ways of looking at reality ever imagined, that the reality we see, feel, smell, sense everyday is fake, that it has been created by computers, and that in true reality we are merely slaves, or batteries, and that we are bred in farms as a power source for machines, which initially were created by us, and have now taken us over. There are a few people however, that are not affected by these machines, because their minds have been set free by a certain morpheus, a man who has been predicted that he will find "the one", the person that will free humans from imprisonment. Well, Morpheus finds his man in the shape of Neo (Keanu Reeves, I have to say, without doubt his best ever film!), the only problem is, Neo doesn't believe he is the one, and it is not until the end that he truly believes, and then destroys the so called guardians of the matrix, namely the agents! Fantastic film, should have won far more Oscars than it did, and there are sequels/prequels due out over the coming years, so the Matrix is far from over!!!! Age Rating 15.

5)Right, we are into my favourite overall category now, so brace yourse3lf for a few gangster films, I love all of the above individually, but as a whole, gangster movies are my love :D, as you can see, even my username is taken from the notorious Mr Blonde from reservoir dogs! First and foremost, Pulp Fiction, this is just one of those films that you like even if you dislike gangster movies. Perhaps Quentin Tarantino's greatest ever movie, certainly his funniest. The whole film is based around Jules (a young Samuel L Jackson), and Vincent (a fat John Travolta), working as basically hard men for their boss Marcellus Wallace, and they are trying to get a briefcase back to him, although we never find out what i
s in it. Samuel L Jackson is without doubt hilarious, he sees everything as either racist or as religious, even his catchphrase is taken from the bible. The soundtrack to the film is also pretty good if you like some of the old style music instead of all the dance rubbish found on many of today’s films! We get to watch many amazing characters in the film, including Bruce Willis and Uma Thurman, aswell as an appearance from Harvey Kuitel, and Tarantino himself, quite a line-up one might say. A must watch for all movie lovers no matter what the preference. Age Rating 18.

6)I would say this film would have to be my namesake, it has got to be reservoir dogs, a fantastic film, albeit not quite top 5 material, still excellent all the same. We are talking about a bank robbery that has gone seriously wrong because of an undercover cop, who ends up being shot, although he is the only one that survives in the end. The gang that are to do the robbery know nothing about each other, they are given fake names, of which they all keep to, such as Mr Blue, Mr Pink, Mr White (technically the leader), and of course, the psycho Mr Blonde (hehehehehe). All through the film until the halfway mark, we do not know who the cop is until he reveals himself. Although the film is the exact opposite to Pulp Fiction which is widespread over several characters in several scenarios, this film is far more enclosed, and most of it takes place in an old abandoned building, from which most of the story is told by the cast. Again, I would say this is one of Tarantino's finest moments as he made his name in the world of directing, and printed it in the record books forever, especially seeing how the film was originally banned, because of the whole Mr Blonde cutting a cop's ear off with a razor scene! Age Rating definitely 18.

7)This one has got to be a film that includes my favourite gangster actor of all time, namely Robert De Niro, he is a fantastic actor, and
I feel the fact that he is a method actor goes a long way to making him that good. The film in question is Casino, although Goodfellas is rated as being better, I have only seen it once so I cannot judge fairly! I found that the whole idea of a Mafia family running most of the casinos in Las Vegas was a hell of a good idea, and the main star line-up that have been used in the film justify it entirely! We are given an insight into the world of gambling, and how the Mafia love to make money from it, we have De Niro, who plays Sam (or Ace) Rothstein, a gambler by trade, he never loses a bet, he knows basically everything about what he is betting on, even the sexual habits of the footballers when he bets on the sport. So, it seems the logical idea to have him in charge of one of the Mafia’s casinos in Vegas, nobody will be able to rip him off. However, there is a small problem, namely Joe Pesci, who plays the hard hitting Nicky Santoro, the kind of guy who would stab a guy in the throat with a pen, just for saying something that was out of favour with him. Because of Nicky's undermining of the bosses and indeed of Sam, as he strives to make his own name in Vegas as "the man", the whole gambling empire that has been build falls, and he along with his gang, end up dead. The film can be quite gratuitous at times, so I won't go into too much detail, I don't want the review getting blocked after all. Age Rating 18 again, without a shadow of a doubt hehehe.

8)Hmm, this is getting a bit more difficult to do now, I still have lots of films I could go with, but there are only a few that deserve I feel to be in my top 10, and don't worry, you won't find lord of the rings in this one, I am one of the very few people so it seems that didn't actually like it! I think my next selection would have to be Shrek, I don't know why, I don't think it will ever hit classic status like the Toy Story movies or any of the previo
us films for all that matter, but it is one hell of an enjoyable film to watch! The cast involves Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers, Donkey and Shrek respectively. Donkey is the comedian of the film, and throws out consistent one liners throughout. Shrek on the other hand is the brawn of the duo, occasionally funny, often misunderstood, a complicated guy.... for an ogre. The film on the whole has some funny songs, the kareoke dance party at the ends has me in stitches, especially donkey's "I like big butts and I cannot lie" routine, comedy genius without doubt! The section at the end for all of the mistakes, something Disney seem to be adding in at then end of many of their films of late, ever since Toy Story 2 anyways, again, it is effectively funny, and adds the final push for the films comedy. A definite film for kids, but then all adults will like it too, that is if they have any kind of sense of humour, this one will niggle at the funny bone until you can't take it anymore. Age Rating PG.

9)Forest Gump. One of Tom Hanks' greatest movies of all time, a great film, with a great lead actor in it. Hanks plays the narrator, who tells of his life story, which is extremely weird, even if he seems to think otherwise. At the start of the movie he is bound by splints on his legs just to stop him from collapsing under his own weight, this is until one day when the bullies that plague him chase him, as he runs his legs come free of the splints and he is able to run faster than he could ever have imagined, so fast even, that he ends up playing American football for his country. He doesn't have much in the way of intelligence, but he is a loveable character in his dimness, and because of that he enters the hearts of many, and even eventually gets his one true love, jenny. We come to the end of the film, and he is on his way to see his son for the first time, and we rejoin his as the character as opposed to the narrator as he is sittin
g on a bench waiting for a bus talking to someone he has just met. Maybe he is right about one thing though, "life is a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get". Age Rating 15.

10)The last one, at long last you are probably thinking, apologies if the review has bored you a tad hehehe. This one I feel has to go to Wayne's World 1&2, cheap, tacky, tasteless, but then wasn't the rest of the 1990s? Mike Myers makes his debut as an actor/director, and considering just how cheap the films actually were, they were extremely popular, and also extremely funny. The film revolves almost like a documentary about 2 teenagers in Aurora Illinois, who make a TV show for cable access channels in the basement of Wayne's house. A major company picks up on them, and tries to exploit them, this leads to many shenanigans from the 2, both as Wayne tries to get his girl (Cassandra, the Cantonese minx). and as they try to keep the show for themselves after the TV Company try to make it corporate with all the sponsorship etc. The sequel is just as funny, as the duo try to create a new woodstock, with the title Waynestock. Just as Alice Cooper starred in the 1st film, this time round they manage to get Aerosmith on the film, so as we can see, the soundtrack could well be a good one, although I have never looked to date, might be worth investigating further though methinks!!! Age Rating 15.
