He was trying to save some dolphins and they had to move them, for some reason from one place to another which involved a very long road trip. They had them in these lorries in special baths but it was touch and go whether they made it. They played this tune whilst a the camera ... more

Premium Review Top 10 Singles: Me, myself and I (938 words)

Having a browse around the site and reading other peoples top tens, I've decided to have a go myself but it's not been easy! Far far too many great tracks to choose from, could have done with a top 40. Despite being only 33, the most recent choice is from the mid 90s and my indie britpop days. Could have had loads from here: Suede, Blur, James, Elastica but my actual choices tend to come from the mid sixties of which I am a huge fan. Comes from pinching my mum and dad's old 45s. Think I was misplaced in time! But I do put a nod to the 80s, from my Smash Hits days. Let me know what you think.... 1) ROY ORBISON IN DREAMS My favourite song ever ...  Read the complete review

I never thought I'd be writing one of these Top 10 or survey-style reviews, yet here I am. I like reading them, I just didn't think writing one was my thing. But while recently writing a Muse review I found myself writing that one of the tracks would probably make it onto my list of all-time favourite songs, and that got me wondering - what else would be on that list? I've always thought of myself having a fairly eclectic and open minded taste in music, although I hate manufactured pop and most chart music. I was recently pigeonholed by my colleagues as an "American rock chick" due to my overexcitement at booking Bon Jovi tickets. To add to this, ...  Read the complete review

Here are my top 10 singles of all time (I write on a whim, these I will say, may be subject to change): You Learn - Alanis Morrisette I have loved Alanis all my life, I bought Thank You first, going backwards to Jagged Little Pill then skipping back forward and buying Under Rug Swept. Since then I have been an avid fan, buying any of her back catalogue I didn't have and going to see her. The song is about, unsurprisingly, learning. Learning when you choke, when you choose, when you cry. Alanis recommends life experiences, such as having your heart broken, to help you learn and become a bigger better stronger person. Makes me feel so good every time I ...  Read the complete review

I have had to have a good long think about my top ten singles as there are so many I like its hard to choose just ten but here we go. 10. You've Got a Friend by James Taylor. This song came out when I was growing up in the seventies and I loved the words and sound of the song. James Taylor has such a lovely voice and the guitar playing is really nice. I used to listen to the words and think he was singing to me and imagining that I had this special friend. 9. Starman by David Bowie. This is another song that came out when I was at school in the seveties and it started a big thing for me where David Bowie is concerned. I bought all his albums as ...  Read the complete review

Is it me or is there a hint of an atmosphere on dooyoo of late? A lot of the fun seems to be seeping out of the site with members being giving naughty letters from dooyoo for over using the Not Usefuls and plenty of smacked wrists over the comments section. It's almost like we are falling back to 2004 when it was eggshells and the big stick. A tale reached me where one writer had their Room 101 review locked because they put me in it, which I was rather flattered by and probably deserve to be in it, but it wasn't me who complained. How does that work? As I have been banned from flirting and pretty much everything else here I want to dedicate ten songs to ten cool members ...  Read the complete review
