Advantages: All special to me

Disadvantages: So may to choose from

I have had to have a good long think about my top ten singles as there are so many I like its hard to choose just ten but here we go.

10. You've Got a Friend by James Taylor. This song came out when I was growing up in the seventies and I loved the words and sound of the song. James Taylor has such a lovely voice and the guitar playing is really nice. I used to listen to the words and think he was singing to me and imagining that I had this special friend.

9. Starman by David Bowie. This is another song that came out when I was at school in the seveties and it started a big thing for me where David Bowie is concerned. I bought all his albums as they came out and ones that had been out before Ziggy Stardust. I went to see him 8 times in concert at different venues around the London area. The song is a slow one that I used to sing along to and new all the words to.

8. With or Without You by U2. This song was another one that really started something off. I bought the single then liked it so much I bought all the U2 albums which were then on vinyl and then as cds came out I bought them all on cd too. I had videos of them as well and painted a bit mural of Bono and the Edge on my wall which wa a big talking point with everyone visited.

7. Evergreen by Will Young. When Pop Idol came out on the tv I was working weekends and my OH was working Mon to Fri so we didn't have much time to spend together so Saturday nights were really special to us and we loved watching the program. We both like Will from the start and always thought he was extra special with the way he sung and performed on stage. On the day of the final we were really hoping he would win and it was really exciting tv when Ant and Dec said the winner is ......... Will. I can still remember his fac when he heard his name. This song always brings back these days to me.

6. Ride a White Swan by T Rex. This was the first ever single that I ever bought for myself. I really liked the words to it as it was really magical and fantasy inspired. I was at school when it came out and I liked to sit in class and think of the song and draw pictures of fairies and flowers and things all over my books while the teacher was boring me to death.

5. Truly, Madly Deeply by Savage Garden. This song was one I used to play when I first met my OH. We met on the internet on the chat thing called ICQ as I had put that I wanted to chat with people who liked Arsenal. We started chatting about the team and games etc and found out we had a lot in common, we both had lived in South London and out Dad's both lived in Faversham, Kent. We also liked the same kinds of films and music. I changed my ICQ sounds so that whenever OH came online and signed in to the chat it would play the song. We still say now that its our song.

4. We are family by Sister Sledge. This song is special to me because I have two sisters and when they say I got all my sisters with me it makes me think of the times we had when we were growing up and now that we dont see each other so often the special times we have at my Dad's.

3. Bitter with the Sweet by Johnny Marks. This is not a very well known song but it is really special to me. Johnny Marks is a country singer and he used to appear at Pontins when they had the coutnry music weeks there back in the 80's. My Mum used to love the song, it was always her favourite. One time we went to Pontins in Weston Supermare and we were surprised to find that Johnny Marks had a chalet on the camp just a few doors up from ours. One day he was sitting out the front playing his guitar and singing and we went out and sat out there and I asked him if he would play the song for my Mum. She was so pleased and had tears rolling down her face as she listened to it. I lost my Mum in 1995 to cancer but when I hear this song it always makes me think of those lovely times we had.

2. You've got a Way, Shania Twain. This song has two meanings to me as my dad loves Shania Twain and I love film Notting Hill. The words to the song are really nice and romantic. My Dad is a big country fan and loves all the old names but now a days he likes listening to the more modern women country stars and Shania is one of his favourites.

1. I'll be There by Michael Jackson. This is just about my all time favourite song, It has very meaningful words and a lovely tune to it, The song again came out when I was at school and I have fond memories of listening to it over and over again when I was a teenager. I can imagine saying the words to so many special people in my life and hope they feel the same way about me.

Summary: I love all these songs for different reasons.
