Advantages: My choices

Disadvantages: Nobody to listen to with

Music affects many people in lots of different ways and at the moment I'm feeling blue which is probably why the songs I've chosen are a little sloppy!

I know that some of them you'll probably not even have heard of but I would certainly recommend them to anyone if you like a sad song or are missing a loved one which is what I'm doing right now.

Okay, so these are my choices and they're not in any particular order because it's very hard to say whether one song is more important to me than another, so sorry for the cop-out!

Hypnotize the Moon by Clay Walker

The first time I heard this my husband had just left to go to Germany for six weeks! It's a very sultry Country song and Clay has the most amazing sexy voice, he kept me entertained until Ed came home.

The song was released in 1995 and was a huge hit; it comes off the same titled album.

It Doesn't Have to be this Way by The Blow Monkeys

Not many people seem to remember this group but they were quite popular during the late 80's and had a few hits. This song was featured in Dirty Dancing, which is where I first heard it! I fell in love with the lead singers voice, which is amazing although he was a bit strange.
As well as being on the soundtrack for Dirty Dancing, this comes from the Blow Monkeys album entitled 'She Was Only the Grocers Daughter' and was released in 1987.

Don't Take the Girl by Tim McGraw

Have you ever heard a song that makes you cry? Well this one did it for me when I first heard it. Ed brought it home for me to listen to when Tim McGraw had just released his first album and the story the song tells is beautiful but heartbreaking; the video is just as bad!

It comes from Tim's first album entitled 'Not a Moment too Soon' and was released in 1994.

Open Arms by Journey

Surprised? Well I do listen to all kinds of music you k
now! This is a very special song for me and if I had to choose just one to be my favorite then this would be it because it's the first song Ed played for me all those years ago!

It comes from the album entitled 'Escape' and was released in 1981.

I Swear by John Michael Montgomery

Yes this is the song you may know by Boys 2 Men and Boyzone but not many people realize that it was originally a country song released by this man!
I love this just for the words and the sentiment behind them even if that does sound all mushy.

The song comes from an album entitled 'Kickin? it Up' and was released in 1994.

Best In Me by Blue

Sloppy and sentimental but when you love someone this song describes exactly what they do for you and I love it! I know they're considered a 'boy band' but I still like them, sad eh.
It's never been released as a single but has been played loads of times on MTV Hits.

The song comes from the album 'All Rise' and was released in 2001.

I Don't Wanna Talk About It by Everything But The Girl

This is another band that didn't do anywhere near as well as they should have. Rod Stewart originally recorded the song in 1978 (I think that's the right year) but this version has more feeling and is just wonderful.
If you've never heard this band I'd certainly recommend having a look around to see if you can find anything by them.

The song comes from the album 'Idlewild' and was released in 1988.

Angel Eyes by Wet Wet Wet

Marti Pellow at his best in my humble opinion. This song is certainly one that seems to last and I still enjoy listening to it today, especially after I found the album hiding in a box!

This comes from their debut album entitled 'Popped In, Souled Out' and was released way back in 1987.

Don't Turn Off the Lights by Enrique Iglesia
s

If you've never heard this one then you really should, it's definitely one for today's generation! The song is simply about how can a man know what works if you don't let him see whether you're enjoying it or not?

The song is from the album entitled 'Escape' and was released 2001.

Unbreakable by Westlife

I apologize for admitting to liking a Westlife song but this latest one by them is just amazing. I sat and watched it for the first time about three weeks ago, just after Ed left and I bawled my eyes out!
It has a definite country feel to it and the video that accompanies it will reduce quite a few people to tears, it's so sad.

The song hasn't been released yet but according to the listing on the TV it will be on an album entitled 'Greatest Hits'. The song is also being released as a single fairly soon.

Well there you have it, my ten favorites at the moment although some will certainly be all-time contenders when Ed comes home and I'm feeling much more cheerful!
Quite a few are country, which is what I listened to for most of the 90's while living in America and didn't want to listen to rap.
