Top ten singles of all time?

Man, tough one. Well, I go with the phrase " Stop Living In The Past " so most of my selections are fairly modern. For a teenager I do have a broad music taste so I promis to have a varied selection. I dont think I'll put them in order.

Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger

Oasis are a very good band. Its a shame they get into all the scraps but it doesn't stop their music from being fab. In a poll by Channel 4, this song was voted in the top ten. And that is quite an achievement. The tune is fab for starters.
The fab une starts with a rocking guitar tuneand then the vocals come in. I think it's very good first line. It has metaphorical values. "Slip inside the eye of your mind" Pretty good lyrics for a band of drunken louts! :) And then when you get into the meat of the song " Sooooo, Sally can wait.." The first time I heard it Ihad a chill running down my back. The great thing about this son is that it grows on you ( Always a good thing about a song) and you can dane around to it and get lost in the beat!

Coldplay - In My Place

I am a very hardcore Coldplay fan. I really adore this band. This isnt the first song in my top ten singles by them. This is one of my favourite tracks by them. I love the beggining music and then the haunting music comes flowing in beautifully. Then Chris Martin's vocals come in. What wonderful lyrics this band produce! In My Place, were lines that I couldn't change, I was lost oh yeah.
Thats one of the things I love about Coldplay. Their lyrics are wonderful, and deep with meaning. The song ends very well too. This song is sung with passion, and Chris Martin is deeply talented in that area. Singing with real raw emotion. Brill. I was deeply disappointed when this single didn't get to Number One. I bet your thinking it must have been a fab musical talented artist/band to keep Coldplay off t

he top spot, right? Right? Wrong. It was Darius.

Imagine - John Lennon

I think most people will agree with me on this. This song is a complete legend, as is the artist. The lyrics are breath-taking, and the song is so simple yet so effective. I wasn't alive to appreciate the wonderful John Lennon and his music but after hearing this I have looked into all his work and it is great. The piano riff is deeply haunting, and the lris ork very well. It is a simple song, and a simple video. I love the video where Yoko Ono shows up at the end and sits at the piano with Lennon, and John just gently isses her. Lovely stuff.

Tainted Love - Soft Cell

I find this song is very odd, has a rebellious edge to it, and is catchy tune a well! It is very mysterious, full of darkness and mystery, and in a word kind of...spooky! I don't really know what to say about this record. It is deeply strange, but I love it, and it deserves its success.

Trouble - Coldplay

In an interview, Elton John said that this is the only recor in the last decade that he wished that he had wrote. Quite rightly so. I love simple songs like tis which have hidden layers and hidden meaning. The piano riff is hunting. I love those sort of tracks which have haunting piano riffs. The lyrics are quite strange, and need to be looked into to fully understand them. But I think that this is quite good. Songs that make you think are alway interestin. Bascally, this is about someone wanting someone else to forgive them. Thats the short and short of it. And quite frankly, if anyone sang this as a request for me to forgive them, I would be instantly forgiving, despite whatever the person may have done!

Mmm. Howmany have I done? 5. Geez, I have a way to go!

Madness - House of Fun

Now, this is quite a crazy band, and I wouldnt normallylike this sort of music, but I do find i fascinating, fun and zany. One critisicm about Madness is
that
their ongs sometimes sound similar, but no matter. They are still catchy, and great songs to listen to. The lyrics dont have hidden meanings really, they are straight to the point, but this one is a little different, as it in't really a house of fn that madness are referring to, but drugs.

Travis - Driftwood

To be honest, I wouldn't honestly say that this was top ten material for my list, but I am running low on ideas, and my head is all aching, so I have an excuse. This is another song that is a grower, and I love the metaphorical meaning in the lyrics. The only trouble with songs that growon you is that they get stuck in your head until you get sick of them, and I hate hating a song which I love. Does that make sense? Ahh, who cares. Anyway, this is a catchy, easy on the ears song. With some lovely singing and guitar work.

REM - Losing my Religion

Fabulous record. Cracking band. It is catchy, and full of meaning. I really like the lyrics to it. I love reading lyrics to songs I love and trying to figure out the meaning to them, because when I listen to them again, thesong has new meaning, and I love that feeling. REM are a god-send, honestly, they really are fantastic. And it does have emotional lines in it " I think I thought I saw you cry..." I think thats great. Great sound to his voice aswell.

Dido - Hunter

Most peopl think of Dido, and they think of Thankyou. That was the song that made her famous thanks to Eminem sampling her song on one of his records. I erfer Hunter because it has a lot of attitude from the music and Dido singing. It is a mesmerising chorus, and I can picture things in my had whles listening to her music. It is very relaxing at times, and then kicks in with a rocky attitude filled chorus. Great great stuff. Some people brand her boring, but I think its great stuff.

One more...MMmmm..er...OK, there is this really new song that isnt out yet but I stil
l love it.

Alex Parks - Maybe Thats What It Takes

Alex is the winner of Fame Academy. She really is great at singing. Her voice i so original, and her voice has brought me to tears when hearing this. Her lyrics are a mix of style between Coldplay and Annie Lennox. Her voice is very beautiful and the lyrics are amazing for a 19 year old to write. The lyrics are full of metaphors and hidden meanings, and I love it. She sings the song like she really means it. Some people may find her vowel breaking slightly annoying, but I like it, it's interesting. If you dont know much about Alex, think Sinead O Conner with spiky hair and Coldplay like lyrics.

Well. I hope you like them. My hands are kiling now!

RUNNERS UP

REM - Everybody Hurts ( So emotional, everybody hurts, everybody cries. So cool)
The Strokes - Last Night ( Wicked Everyone dance along. So rocky and kind of dated, but I like it)
Christina Aquileria - Beautiful (See the title for a comment)
The Strokes - 12:51 ( Their voices seem lost in the music, its cool)
I dont wanna talk about it (Ive always liked this
Robbie Williams - Feel, ( The emotion and the words equal complete originality) Sexed Up ( Catchy and interesting lyrics) and Angels (Gorgeous, getting tired of it now though) are all fabulous!
The White Stripes - I just dont know what to do with myself (Very cool!)
Stereophonics: Since I told you its over ( New and special. I love his vce on the vocals)

I do have a wide selection of music taste but unfortunately none of them qualify fot the top ten! I was running out of ideas when I wrote that Alex Parks one, but I may change it to a track that deserves to be in the top ten more. Mmm...
You guys have to remember that everyone has different tastes in music. If you dont like it then, well thats tough Im afraid!
