Advantages: sun, sun, sun, breath-taking places, Sun-tan to show off
Disadvantages: Price, Mosquitoes...yuk, ummm...jet lag?
Compared to quite a lot of people, I really like winter. Don’t get me wrong- Summer is great, but when its hot and sticky, you don’t get the chance to just laze in front of the TV in really comfy, baggy clothes with a cup of tea. I know it’s a hassle when its get dark about practically an hour after it gets light, but after months of summer partying and staying out late, I think its nice to have a few months to cool down and relax (unless of course at school). Winter holidays are by far the best. You know the stage when the weather’s really cold, but its not quite snowing, so its just grey, and dull?…how nice is it to be somewhere hot and exotic like Thailand or Hawaii? After all its not as smug-worthy to your friends when you come back from a hot Summer holiday, and find out there’s been a two week heat-wave of 32°C in ‘Rainy England’ is it? Without a doubt, my favourite winter destinations would be: 1. Thailand-Island of Phuket 2. Africa-Island of Zanzibar Thailand is such a beautiful place for a winter get-a-way, and the overall atmosphere is amazing. Not only are there clear blue skies and higher temperatures than all England’s summers put together, but believe it or not there are so many things to do…(yes, there is more to it than lying on a beach!). The sights and Tourist attractions go on forever- It’s amazing going to the Towns and seeing the different cultures and practices, or seeing the temples made purely of the finest gold in worship of Buddah…respect! I visited Thailand over 6 Christmases ago, and I still can remember every second (apart from the young drunken moments). It was the best experience of my life. Bungee Jumping, Beach parties every night, cheap souvenirs and crystal clear water and pure white beaches were just the start of things! I strongly advice you to try the Island of ‘Phuket’, especially the Kata Than
i Amari Resort with all its own facilities, and set right on the beachfront. However, even though there are hundreds of really cool places to go to, nothing beats the beaches of Thailand. Definitely a place not to be missed! Many people think Africa is a beautiful country, and since I holidayed there last December, I can gladly announce that they were wrong, its absolutely amazing…words can even tell. The flight isn’t even that long, so if you’re bad at planes, or most probably plane food (my week point), there’s not worry is turning down this holiday. Zanzibar is a very newly built-on island, and has a limited number of accommodations because it has been kept so natural and undisturbed. The beaches are as brilliant as Thailand, but the scenery around it breath-taking. I don’t want to tell you anymore about Zanzibar, because I urge you to go there and find it out for yourselves. All I can say now is you won’t regret going at all. You’ll love every minute and want to stay as long as you can. I hope some of you will take this in to mind, and look to Thailand and Africa for your next holidays because they’re definitely worth it if you haven’t already been. Have a great time if you do go, but you will need mosquito repellent with you, especially at night…
