Advantages: TV was great then

Disadvantages: i can't remember any

Is it the rose tinted spectacles of youth, or perhaps programming was just better when I was young ?.
I think bAck fondly on some truly great epics of tv

here is my choice:
For those us us who remember I'm doing this in a top of the pops style starting with number 10.

10. The Banana Splits- 4 californian people in dog like suits, who just seemed to spend all their time doing crazy things in a beach buggy- thats California for you. Fantastic theme tune "1 banana 2 banana, 3 banana 4, 4 bananas make a bunch and so do many more." Don't get lyrics like that today.

9.The Herbs- great animation, and more great songs ( one of the things that makes it a winner still) Parsley the lion was def. my fav. probably because he was such a friendly lion.

8.Rentaghost- 3 ghosts up to all sorts of tricks, especially try to upset the landlord- Mr Meaker

7. Scooby Doo- i've clearly always likes a mystery being solved, and i have ended up looking more like Thelma than I would of wished for.

6. The wombles- even in those days we could see the advantage of not throwing things away. our very own eco warriors, plus
more great songs. I think i had the album.

5.Why don't you just turn off your tv set and go and do something less boring instead show.
always on in the school holidays, filling your head full of daft ideas, like how to make a paper mache rocket. none of it ever seemed much good to me, so i guess i just ended up watchin tv instead.

4.Tom and Jerry- my dear dad loved this, so it always became " our time " together. Just classic cartooning at its best.
still love it now

3. Paddington bear- loved that cute little guy, and as i was brought up in paddington, london, i thought that meant it was just for me. also had a teddy called paddington

2. Top cat- even then cats featured very highly. That cheeky feline just got away with everything. He was always 6 steps ahead of old officier Dibble. Again great song

1. Pogles Wood- i was very small then, but about a family who lived in a wood, and they had a large plant in the garden that drank bilberry wine, played the violin and told stories. Screened bet 65-68. there is a pogles wood website. For those of a certain age it will bring back memories

Well this has been a trip down memory lane, hope its brought back some good memories

Summary: a trip down memory lane,
