Advantages: Smooth, comforting and satisfying
Disadvantages: Bad for you :(
Now then, chocolate! Just the mere sound of the word gets some of us drooling at the mouth and dropping everything to rush to the overpriced -but closest - corner shop for a fix. So what is it that makes sopme of us become absolutely devoted to the cause? Well humble chocolate has been deemed interesting enough for scientists to study and it turns out eating it really does make you happy. Endorphins in the brain are triggered making you feel happy. Also, as described by Desmond Morris, sweet tastes are comforting to us as they remind us of the breast mik that with its sweet musky taste was the original comfort food.
So what do I like about chocolate? I'm a simple girl at heart and don't like anything too fancy. So nuts are out, dark chocolate's out and anything else over fancy. I like smooth textures and obviously sweet is an important factor too. For me, chocolate is about suiting a mood so my top 10 chocolates isn't a simple in order list but more 10 chocolates for 10 moods!
1) KitKat
KitKats are probably my everyday choice. If I'm not sure what I fancy or someone else buys, I get a KitKat. They're chocolatey, they're smooth but with a nice crunch. No nonsense, job done!
2) Twirl
For the softer, whimsical mood why not go with a twirl. Lovely creamy cadbury's chocolate and very smooth on the tongue. Plus, it melts just lovely if you suck it.
3) Cream Egg
These used to be for an Easter treat but recently with the new creme egg bars they're all year things. These are super sweet so satisfy a sweet tooth with a creme fondant so sugary you can almost crunch it! Add to that smooth creamy cadbury's choccie and its obvious why Creme egg makes it!
4) Malteasers
To me, maltesers are cinema sweeties. They're light, they don't give you too much dry mouth like some chocolates and they're easy to eat. No fuss at all. If you do eat them at home you ca play cool games with them like blowing under them so they get suspended in the air. You can't argue with that!
5) Toffee Crisp
Sometimes you're just not in the mood for cadburys. A toffee crisp fits the bill nicely. It reminds you of making rice crispie buns as a kid and they are sweet with a simple crunch. Fills a hole.
6) Wispa Gold
Gone but not forgotten! All the bubbles in the airated chocolate give it a more interesting texture than plain cadburys chocolate and the sweet sticky caramel balances the bubbles out perfectly. If I could have any chocolate right now it would be a Wispa Gold.
7) Ripple
Mmmmm, silky smooth chocolate wrapped around itsself. A bit plain as there's no filling but a really rich, tasty chocolate that satisfies chocolate craving easily. Unfortunately, it leaves you wanting more.
8) Kinder Bueno
Kinder Buenos are fun to eat! There are 6 chunks that come in two bars and -in the privacy of my own home - I like to bite each chunk i half and lick the hazlenuty filling out then eat the chocolate covered wafer. They're not particularly filling though so are ore for fun than serious chocolate business.
9) Buttons
It's a definite, buttons taste nicer than just normal cadbury's Dairy Milk. It's that smooth creamy sweet chocolate again but the little round discs make it nicer. Best sucked until they melt then swallowed down.
10) Animal Bars
It is bneginning to seem I have a childish taste in chocolate! Animal bars are like buttons. They're just ordinary cadbury's chocolate but they taste better than dairy milk bars. I think it's because they're thinner so the lovely sweet chocolate melts on you tongue easier. As they're quite small they don't ruin your dinner either. Win!
So there we go: 10 chocolate bars I rate, would you agree or not?
Summary: I definitely like chocolate
