Advantages: Scary films
Disadvantages: actually struggled to think of the ones i would rate highly
Horror films are one of my guilty pleasures, I guess I just love being scared, but then its very rare for me to find a film that really makes me scream.
My favourite horror films arent always the scariest....
1. When A Stranger Calls - Based on the Urban Legend - You know the one, girl babysits, gets anonymous phonecalls, find out they are coming from INSIDE the house. This story used to give me nightmares as a child and the film scares me almost as much, there is one scene in particular, in the childrens bedroom.
2. Urban Legend - Noticing the small theme yet, I love Urban Legends and this movie has so many of them all in one neat little package, plus Joshua Jackson - Favourite clip, in his car, Dawsons Creek theme comes on... Simple things.
3. H20 - Never really been a fan of the halloween movies, but I like this one, set 20 years in the future, yet poor old Jamie is still being plagued.
4. Scream - FOr me this includes ALL of the scream films, I could cheat and mention each on their own, but their such classiscs, the first time I watched them I couldnt sleep.
5. Cherry Falls - This one is so ridiculous it has to make my top 10, small town, plagued by a killer who seems to focus in on Virgins, good twist at the end though.
6. Sixth Sense - Another that makes me jump the whole way through, I honestly still cant sit and watch this, and the twist, which I'm sure everyone knows, REALLY got me!
7. The Exorcist - Another classic, another that has to make the list, although I didnt find it overly scary I still appreciate it, and do understand why so many people do find it disturbing, my mum for one can't watch it.
8. The Shining - All work and no play makes Jack a Dull boy! I love this film even more after watching the making of, to think they all really did go a little bit cuckoo when they made it, makes the film even more chilling in my opinion.
9. Nightmare on Elm Street - Have you noticed all the best horror films are old ones? Theres something so much more disturbing about them. The thing with Nightmare on Elm Street is that its still just as scary now, yes the special effects may leave a lot to be desired, but the story is scary and always will be.
10. Texas Chainsaw Massacre. - Finally, the Massacre, I own the original and have seen the remake, definitely find the orginal the scarier of the two, its not very often you get a movie like this, that chills you right down to the bone.
Summary: my favourite scary movies, and why i like them

- 24/09/09 I actually prefer the remake of Texas Chainsaw - I thought the original was just silly. |
