Advantages: 10 (well 14) legends of the small screen)
Disadvantages: Not enough room in just 10 selections
After readin Donf18's (sorry for naming nmes, but it's true) review on this subject which I throughly enjoyed reading (and if your gonna have a go at me for harrassment go ahead) I thought I'd do one. Unlike Don, who I'm sure wouldn't mind me saying, I've not been on this fair earth long enough to catch many of the shows of the 60's and 70's. So I'm pretty much limited to things post 1994 (which as a 5 year old I've got some cnceiveable memory of), so I'm sorry if it's taken up by modern characters.
10.
The fat ass himself, who could well fill up a list of top 10 quotes by TV characters himself from that great sweary kids show South Park let me introduce to you Eric Cartman, the fat boy who hates hippy's, swears, eats to much and well....acts like a spoilt brat, what more could a character be? Badass, a Bigass, a Bigot and best of all...so hateable that you just have to love him...awww wee Eric, you will respect mah selection!
And as you're now aware I'm not gonna hide the "cartoon" characters, as some of them are beauts

Despite not being totally conveinced by Tim Allen in Wild Hogs, as Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor, he couldn't help but get a laugh, the guy was just so brilliant, shame his career has pretty much falted from then on, but still, he can tell his grand kids "One of my characters made an 'iamasadlittleboys'' top 10 list". The tool man, who I only caught on ABC1 when it was shown on freeview basically epitomised the sense of DIY madness of the mid 90's.

Maybe unfairly only given 8th spot, a character that should make everyones top 10 with out anyone, Del boy Trotter, of course from Only Fools and Horses, the short wide eyed cockney boy, wiv 'is free van and Rodney by his side, never failed to giv' us a laugh when we was younger. Sorry I went into attempted Cockney mode there and fell on me arse. Del boy is again a perfect example of what a TV character should be, just about believeable, but also surreal.
7.
Sorry guys but heres another cartoon character for you, Bender from Futurama oh boy, where do we start with the robot programmed to bend girders for suicide booths, who becomes a country singer near magnets...and...well basically is one of the few legendary charcters of modern day cartoons, he has Fry as a friend (who would have made a top 25 list himself) and the mis-adventures from joining the mafia to falling in love with a spaceship...I could go on all day.
6.
Back to real life and the oldest of the characters, Sgt Bilko (and out of manners, I'll stick Topcat in), I guess we could say the original Del Boy, a conman of the highest order and with Phil Silvers being Phil Silvers you just knew you'd piss yourself with laughter everytime the show was on. One of the few black and white shows I'd actually choose to watch because it's star is so ****ing hilarious.
5.
This was a toughy, I was only wanting 1 character from any one show so 5th is a tie, both from Family guy Stewie and Peter Griffin, father and son, basically because they are just so brilliant, from Peters stupidity to Stewies "I'll destroy the world...but I'll kill Lois first" attitude. Pure comedy gold.
4.
I'll admit I've only every seen 2 episodes at the time of writing this, but 1 thing I do know is it's created a monster in Frank Gallagher. A comedy monster who's humour knows no bounds, and probably will never wake up enough to think of any.
3.
Getting tougher to pick a top 3 than I'd have though but anyway I'd reserved places 1 and two (and despite wanting to break my own rules, I've managed not to). Mickey from Neighbours, arguably my favourite current tv show, how such a wonderful young actor in it, that shines in every scene and manages to out perform many of his co-stars. Sorry I don't know the wee chaps name but he's going to be future star.
2.
Doh, another one where I'm wanting 2 characters from 1 show, in both Homer and Bart Simpsom, but I'll give Homer the nod...he's bold and never really had the aclaim his young trouble making son did. Homer is basically what very sow should have with their older characters, a bit dim, but like Tim Taylor this is his whole charm.
1.
Again two characters from a single show compete between ...actually make that three, Dr Cox...J.d. and The Janitor all from Scrubs. Though I'm going to side with John C. Mcginley's Dr Percivel Cox merely because his rants seem more like me than the other two...although the unlucky in love from JD does seem rather like myself.
Close calls:
Dr Who
Sawyer (Lost-looks kick ass)
Fletcher (Porridge)
Summary: ARGH
