Advantages: In my opinion these are all great programmes
Disadvantages: Of course not everyone will agree
It's hard for me to pick just 10 of my favourite shows but I'll try my best!
1) Sex And The City
This would also have to be in my top 10 films list & the film was fantastic. I've always loved this show, was going to buy the box set recently but it was £49.99 & I know they show re-runs all the time on paramount comedy & five U.S. Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte & Miranda have definitely cheered me up on many occasions & I'm sure will continue to do for many years to come.
2) Friends
You can't have a top 10 list of programmes without mentioning this. It's got to be my favourite programme of all time. Like SATC it can really cheer you up when you're down. Every episode makes me laugh, the jokes are hilarious, the characters are all great in their own ways & this show is simply timeless. I have the box set of all 10 series but still watch the re-runs on Channel 4 & E4.
3) Ugly Betty
This is programme is one of those shows that you either love or hate & I personally love this show. All the characters are great, especially Mark & Amanda, they're a great double act. Daniel is extremely good looking, Betty is well... just betty & of course the evil Wilhelmina Slater is brilliantly portrayed by Vanessa Williams. Bring on the next series, who will Betty Choose... Henry or Gio. I want her to pick Gio!
4) Mistresses
This show is like an English version of Sex And The City. It's based around 4 women with great professional jobs but who's lives are all in some ways hindered by infidelity, whether it be their infidelity or someone elses. This is brilliantly written with great acting for the 4 main leads, I especially liked the story about the woman's husband who supposedly died in the 9/11 attacks, they handled it tastefully & with respect & it kept you guessing what was going on. Really gripping stuff & can't wait until the new series next month.
5) Skins
This is a brilliantly written & acted show. I have watched it from the beginning & it really portrays how teenagers (or some teenagers) live their lives, with sex, drugs & a lot of fun! Can't wait until the next series which is on E4 on Thursday night. I was sad when I heard they'd dropped all the characters & replaced them with a whole new cast apart from Effy but I've seen the previews on TV & it definitely looks like the can match up to the previous 2 series.
6) The O.C
What can I possible say about the O.C? It's without doubt one of the best or in fact the best teen drama ever, I loved it ever since it began back in 2003 I think, correct me if I'm wrong though! The great thing about it is that it doesn't just follow the teenagers, it follows the lives of their parents as well which makes it appeal to adults too. This is what Gossip Girl is aiming to be.
7) Gossip Girl
As I just mentioned in the previous programme Gossip Girl is a lot like the O.C it's based around a lot of rich people who live in luxury pent houses & like the O.C it also follows the parents lives as well. It's no wonder this show is so similar to the O.C, it is made by the same people which to be honest is the only reason I watched it. It isn't quite as good as the O.C but definitely comes close & I can't wait for the new series which begins on Wednesday on ITV2.
8) Deal Or No Deal
I strangely like this show, it's the last thing I expected to enjoy but it was actually my Nan that got me into this which I think says it all. Noel Edmonds is an absolute legend, he definitely needs to bring back Mr Blobby, I used to think Mr Blobby was hilarious when I was a kid & would love to see him make a comeback! However this show is actually very addictive, I don't watch it everyday as I'm at work but I sometimes catch it on More4 at 6pm. It's a very simple idea but has become massive all over the world.
9) Absolutely fabulous
I loved this show when it was on in the 90's. I was only about 10 but I remember keeping the TV on in my bedroom really quietly so I could watch it & I still enjoy it now. Patsy & Eddie are hilarious & I never tire of their humour. My favourite moment was when Patsy called Saffy 'a little piece of dribble piss' I don't know why I found it & still find it so funny, I think it's just the way Patsy says it with such hatred towards her, you just can't help but feel sorry for Saffy & wonder how a such a bright, sweet girl came from a person like Eddie. She definitely gets it from her Dad!
10) Loose Women
This is another programme I wasn't expecting to like but when I was off work ill for a while I found myself watching it pretty much everyday & I got really into it. I think this is aimed at more mature women but I personally love this programme & although I don't get to watch it often I'll occasionally record it to watch later, it's like a guilty pleasure that you don't admit to anyone!
That's my top 10, hope people agree but of course everyone has different opinions & are bound to disagree with some of my choices.
Summary: Watch them if you get chance.
