Advantages: teen dramas woo!

Disadvantages: not everyones slice of cake

I have to say i'm not a huge fan of reality Tv shows, I hate anything to do with David Attenborough and don't get me started on David Dickinson!!! however, there are a few tv programmes that i have taken a shine to recently.
1. Grey's Anatomy
Its a series based around a medical student called Meredith Grey and her fellow interns at Seattle Grace hospital in Seattle (obviously). The series starts off with Meredith meeting a handsome fellow in a bar and taking him home only to find, when she turns u for her first day as an intern that he is none other than a resident at the hospital shes doing her internship at. Basically, its a girl meets boy, falls in love, he turns out to be married, goes back to his wife, can't make his mind up so goes back to meredith and inbetween we see some interesting cases in the hospital and sometimes indulge in splashes of her friends lives aswell. Its most excellent i assure you.

2. Hollyoaks (not sure if its counted as a program :S but i like it and its on Televison)
Basically its about a small fictional village in Chester called Hollyoaks and deals with 'real life' issues such as drug addiction, rape, murder, hit and run, domestic abuse, teenage pregnancy and sudden infant death syndrome (this was a particularly moving episode where characters Mandy and Tony came back from going out to find that their baby wasn't breathing only to find out that later she'd died from SIDS.)

3. Skins
Its a comedic true to life (in an exaggerated way) teen TV series which follows a group of college teenagers from Bristol and deals with issues such as drug use, sex, relationships, college pressure etc. I absolutely love this show, its hilarious and in some senses, sadly, true to life.

4. Scrubs
Its a comedy set in Sacred heart teaching hospital and mainly focuses on JD ( John Dorian) the main character. Most of the episodes feature many issues which are voiced over by JD played by the slightly handsome Zach Braff. Although it is foremost a comedy it is often counterbalanced with serious issues surrounding patience such as death. The episode is then summarised by JD at the end via voice-over.

5. My name is Earl
Basically, its about a guy whos done alot of wrong things throughout his life and when he is run over after winning the lottery, he decides to make a list of all the wrong things hes done and make them up to the people hes hurt and is based on the principle of Karma, this often results in laugh out loud comedy as not everyone welcomes him with open arms!

6. Waterloo road (which i've missed tonight!)
Its an excellently grabbing drama revolving round an extremely troubled school in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. It focuses on both teachers and pupils and deals with social issues such as teen pregnancy, affairs, abortion, divorce, suicide and crime. I would personally hate to work in this school, theteachers are abused constantly and the pupils are highly stereotypically representative of a large number of pupils at my old high school. Oddly enough my high school had elements of the issues shown in this drama!

7. Shameless!!
Shameless is a hilariously funny dramatisation set in the fictional Chatworth counsel Estate, which is based on a real counsel estate in Stretford, Manchester. It shows the viewer the lives of the not so nuclear gallagher family, the Maguire family and their neighbours.

8. One tree hill
is a teen drama series set in North Carolina and centres round the teens at Tree Hill high and features the slightly handsome Chad Michael Murray
9. Gilmore girls
follows a single mother and her teenage daughter, its set in a small fictional village called stars hollow and confronts family, friendship, generational divides, and social class issues.

10. deal or no deal
you got to love it! the game show with the contestant, the banker and the host which revolves around the opening of boxes each of which contains a value. the contents of each box is unknown at the start, the contestant picks a box and chooses boxes to remove, throughout the games, the banker offers the contestant money for their box, This process of removing cases and receiving offers continues, until either the player accepts an offer to 'deal', or all offers have been rejected and the values of all unselected cases are revealed. The player wins the value of the deal taken, or if no deal is taken, the contents of the player's case. how awesome is that!!

Summary: i am easily pleased
