Advantages: Some great shows
Disadvantages: A lot of garbage out there
The top 10 tv shows for are pretty much split in to two types. The current ones and the ones that have finished for whatever reason. So as a result of this it seems a good idea to do two lists of 5. The first 5 being shows that to the best of my knowledge are no longer being made in and form whilst the second are most certainly being shown as a live series or are almost certainly going to be renewed for another series.
List 1
5
Robot Wars
Originally hosted by the petrol head we either love or hate, Jeremy Clarkson before going into the hands of that loveable Scouse rouge Craig Charles. The show had robots with hammer, axes and flippers trying to destroy each to progress to the next round and was first on bbc 2 before it steadily went down hill and ended up on channel 5 as a program that had been destroyed and left a wreck. It was only a matter time before the show was told to cease. However in its prime it was fantastic.
4
Fresh Prince of Bel Air
The show that helped make Will Smith a house hold name and make one of the most catchy theme songs in all of TV. Show featured Will living with his Aunt and Uncle in Bel Air after getting in a fight with some bullys in his home town of Philadelphia. The show concentrates heavily on humour and the chemistry of the key characters was brilliant. The show is on pretty much none stop reruns on Virgin.
3
Kenan and Kel
On a similar note to Will Smiths comedy this is another that depended heavily chemistry of the key 2 actors. The show was about the adventurers of the two men in the title and Kenans wild often ludicrous ideas that involved getting random objects to all the plans.
Not sure if this is currently repeated sorry but if it is its well worth catching
2
Red Dwarf
Forget about the 3 episodes Dave did, they were nothing more than a glorified advert for the DVD. In its prime the show was sci-fi comedy gold. Mixing the dry humour of Chris Barrie and the typical slob like behaviour ore.
The show has recently been brought back to tv in repeats on the fate.
1
Blackadder
The Rowan Atkinson lead historical comedy was one of those great programs where a well written script was given to a great cast and performed to level it deserved. The show went from the slapstick, to clever, the silly to the poignant. With Mr Bean the cast included Stephen Fry, Tony Robinson and the brilliant Hugh Laurie for most of its run. A classic that is often left in the dark behind Only Fools And Horses despite being a much better comedy.
Narrow misses:
Monkeydust, Firefly and They Think Its All Over
Now on to modern tv something I am not a big fan of to be honest. It seems for every great show there is 5 terrible ones.
5
South Park
Foul mouthed animation that makes for a fun end to an otherwise dross day. The ideal post work TV program that remembers not to take its self seriously.
4
Family Guy
Pretty much the same as South Park with more jokes based around sex. The shows almost go hand in hand and its a tops up between the two as to which one gets watched and which gets put on Sky+.
3
Chuck
Mixing geeks and spies together, throwing in one of the most amazing tv actors in america and a story that has you hooked almost from the off. Tuesday nights have this series linked.
2
Outnumbered
Kids making up the script as they go on, what more ingenuity do you want in a tv show? A genuinely funny and charming show that easily impresses against any sort of competition.
1
The Inbetweeners
Just pinching the top spot is this Channel 4 cult teen comedy that was a suprisingly good show, especially considering some were saying it was like the terrible Skins that was just horrific TV. The teenage tales of woe is so excellently done and so amazingly funny. Best shown on TV recently.
Nearly there:
Shameless
