Advantages: Redknapp's a great manager
Disadvantages: Ramos dealt with unfairly
After attending Portsmouth University for three years, I grew quite fond of the team and occasionally would go to the odd game or too. Knowing that Harry Redknapp had walked out on Portsmouth a few years earlier to join local rivals Southampton, it came as no surprise when I heard that he had opted to join Tottenham after his second spell with Pompey. Portsmouth fans although very angry and disappointed with Redknapp must be sad to see him leave, I just hope that they can continue in the same vein as they did under him and that they keep the majority of the squad which they brought up there. Let's face it Tony Adams is unproven as a manager, he appeared to do a good job as Harry's assistant, but thus came after a disastrous spell in charge of Wycombe Wanderers. I suppose we'll just have to see how he gets on there, I wish him all the best.
So, back to Spurs then. Nobody can doubt that Redkanpp has literally worked miracles there since taking over, the best start in 111years I heard on the radio the other day, with five wins and a draw. Although I realise that Redknapp is an exceptional manager and in my opinion should have landed the England job after Steve McLarens departure, but I do feel a bit for Ramos. Whatever anybody says the players clearly weren't playing under him and it is disappointing the way many have condemned him now that he has left. However, saying this Harry Redkanpp has always been known as a great man manager and has a great talent in managing to get the very best out of every player on his team, you only have to look at the way he has prolonged the careers of players like David James and Nwanko Kanu to see this. Tottenham fans should be delighted over the appointment of Redknapp, I just hope they don't get too carried away with the whole thing, which is what usually happens. Lets remember it wasn't long ago that Spurs were rooted to the bottom of the table, I hope people don't moan if they don't make it into Europe this year!
Well I suppose I should round this off by saying good luck to Harry and Tottenham, good luck to Tony and Portsmouth and ofcourse good luck to Juande Ramos, he did such a good job with Seville and I hope he can get back into management soon, I would love to see him return to the premier league one day and prove all of his critics wrong.
Thanks for reading.
Summary: lets see how the season pans out
