Some parts are very steep, and sometimes boulder strewn, which makes the going very difficult, and I found getting of the cycle to push became a requirement from time to time. There are maps of the C2C available, one is from Sustrans but at 5.99 its not really value for money (IMHO), and its dated 1997 so ... more

The Coast to Coast (C2C as it is commonly known) can start in either Whitehaven or Workington, and travels eastwards across the UK to Sunderland (or Newcastle). The Whitehaven to Sunderland ride is around 135 miles, and can be a really enjoyable ride. Quite a lot is on cycle paths, but be warned there are stretches on roads, and some of it can be very tough going. Some parts are very steep, and sometimes boulder strewn, which makes the going very difficult, and I found getting of the cycle to push became a requirement from time to time. I just did the 40 odd miles from Whitechapel in the east end of london to Staines, west of london. You can do almost the entire journey within spitting distance of the river, and it is most pleasant! The tow path is well suited to every bike except road bikes, and is flat all the way, so perfect for the Sunday cyclist. Set off early to avoid the families and dogs! I love the sport of cycling so much because it's always challenging. Many of the factors that make a bike ride vary are the weather conditions, the road, your energy, your thirst, the bike, but most important is your outlook on the journey. If you think it's gonna be hard, it will be hard. If you believe it's going to be easy, it'll be somewhat easy. You have to be very mentally in shape to ride a bike for long distances. Weather Conditions: Of course there's the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review On Yer Bike! (94 words)

Hardly any adverts to be seen, just plenty of reading on routes, articles on accessories etc. This makes a change from the other like-minded magazines namely MBR. Easy going format for the average mountain bike rider covering on road riding in a small dose. The pull out route maps are well produced and cover a wide range of areas. Also contains informative items such as date of races, competitions etc. Nice to find a magazine that makes you feel normal for not having a full XTR specced bike and ambitions to be number one! ...  Read the complete review
