Traditional Christmas dinnerNewest Review: ... is a mash up of favorite dishes and traditions that are both British and American. --Food:-- --Sweet Potatoes & Marshmallows-- This dish is the ultimate in American indulgence. Even saying the name of this dish makes me salivate, you do not have to be a genius to figure out this is my all time favorite. This side dish is a lovely contrast to all those savory flavors on the Christmas ... more |

The one thing everyone looks forward to in winter is food. The foods that are so deliciously homemade, over the top, and calorie laden are usually the best. What makes them even better is that you have to wait all year for them. Christmas of course, is the culmination of all these wonderful foods, with the centerpiece in the form of a fat golden turkey. Although, do not think that we go through all those silly rituals of starving ourselves on Christmas for just the turkey! We starve ourselves so we can stuff ourselves silly with all those glorious side dishes. Christmas dinner contains all the foods that give someone that comforting feeling, like a hug from the inside. ... Read the complete review

I haven't cooked a christmas lunch in years! But we do have a christmas lunch! No we don't go out to eat in a restuart or round to family and friends. We stay firmly put at home. Our christmas lunch comes from the frezzer made my Iceland!! I know its cheating, but it works very well for us. We are a family of six, hubby, me and four children, three under the age of 10. They aren't that keen on eating christmas lunch, they would rather be playing with the toys and truth being we would rather be playing with them rather than being stuck in the kitchen all day cooking or washing up. One year when we only had two children that is what happened and we didn't find it ... Read the complete review

The main course would be turkey, stuffing, chipolata sausages wrapped in streaky bacon, roast potatos, sprouts and generally ether peas or brocolli. There would always be some sort of desert, either mince pies and brandy butter, or Christmas pudding - but we would generally be too full for desert and this would be postponed a couple of hours! A wonderful by-product of the main Christmas meal, that I looked forward to almost as much as the main event itself, was ... Read the complete review

What is a “traditional” Christmas dinner? Over the years the concept of the Christmas dinner has changed and it means many different things to different people. To me a “traditional” Christmas dinner is what I have grown up with. It contains certain basic elements which make it Christmas dinner rather than just “dinner” but unlike the meals I read about in newspapers and magazines, it does not require much more effort than a normal dinner. Turkey: Other people talk about the time involved in cooking a whole turkey and about eating turkey for what seems like weeks but growing up, we never did this. My mum would buy sufficient turkey breast for two ... Read the complete review

Traditional Christmas dinner, well I think everyone is different on what they like or don't like. Me I look forward to cooking my christmas dinner and most of the family go on a diet and don't eat for a week leading up. To me its the next best thing from the children thinking santa has left all these presents for them. To start with the table has to be dressed (as i call it), Christmas table cloth and your mats, a centre piece in the middle but not to big or you won't have enough space for everything else. Cutlery and extra for my jars, and DON'T forget christmas crackers on each mat. A glass for each mat and children's cup for the little ... Read the complete review
