I live about 100 yards form a railway line and i hear the trains rolling past my house at 20 mph now. Surely this is not the answer? The answer would have been fix the railways before they got into this delapidated state.
So the government have now said,"enough is enough" and handed out grants to get ourselves moving again. rthe 20mph trains meantime arenot going to work. How can commuters that take a normal 45 mins to get to work expect to take an hour and a half to travel? this cannot continue until all of the track is fixed because the lines will beome unprofitable.
Tony Blair's Goverment is not at fault here. They may have been slow to react after the Paddington Tragedy but I think the HJatfield Tradgedy has sent the message home. Unfortunately It a colaboration of British governments since the rail service was privatised by the conservatives. The rail network, like the NHS is a public Service sector industry by nature. Sure it must make money but it would be much safer if it was not being run by private industry out to improve profit margins.
