What is one of the fastest growing sports in the world? What is one of the most demanding sports in the world? What sport combines the three different disciplines of swimming, cycling and running? Erm let me think! Yes, the answer would most definitely be Triathlon! ~~What Is Triathlon?~~ Now just to sort out any confusion, “triathlon” is the name given to a group of three events... this could be anything at all, “a triathlon of cutlery” for example could be a knife, fork and spoon... but me thinks it generally refers to a race involving a swimming leg, cycling leg and a running leg! Triathlon isn't one of the most popular sports in existence, but it is becoming more and more popular and is a well established Olympic Sport. Triathlon, as the name suggests, consists of three sports which are swimming, cycling and running. Each racer must compete each discipline whilst trying to be faster than their competitors. The first leg of the triathlon consists of a 1500m swim. Now that might not seem like a long distance when you consider how far people run in races, but I can imagine having to swim that far would be pretty difficult!! Have you ever watched Triathalon? If like me you would rather watch paint dry, then think again! The olympic Triathalon for both Women and Men was very exciting and definitely one of the best events yet. The thing about Triathalon is that different athletes excel in different things. The person winning the swimming and getting out of the water first does not neccessarily win the competition. As it was in both finals. The ladies went first on day one of the olympics.
