Advantages: If you don't like football and haven't got satellite...

Disadvantages: No competition

With the football season nearly upon us (was there actually ever a break?) a serious dilema presents itself to the fans of the beautiful game. Will you be watching the proceedings on your trusty terrestrial or utilising your fancy new Digital, Internet-ready, multimedia Sky Digital? Well, I certainly won't be altering my view. I'll be watching the football on terrestrial. Oh dear - won't I be in for some fun?

To be completely honest there really is no debate. You could pretend to protest by not switching to satellite or listening to the big game on the radio, but for the serious football enthusiast how can you possibly contemplate the footy on terrestrial? Well, you could always watch Match of the Day but it just isn't the same, is it?

Whether you like it or not, and despite the threatened protest, my guess is that the average football fan will, should he/she be able to afford it, be enjoying the action in the company of Andy 'that's a magical finish!' Gray and Richard Keys. That's not too bad a prospect - that is unless Andy doesn't get too excited.

If you're not going to entertain satellite then there is always Match of the Day, marshalled by the excellent Gary Lineker & company. This however is like bringing on Nicky Butt for Roy Keane - i.e. a poor substitute.
