Advantages: Cheap viewable sports, get the kids into them (playing)

Disadvantages: Disruptive, Too many competitions

I have heard too many people say there is too much sport on TV. Obviously these people are the lazy couch potatoes who sit there and watch soaps and pointless chat shows all day. These are a waste of time, why is Jerry Springer one of the most famous tv chat shows around and all he does is get two pieces of american trailer trash and let them make a fool of themselves on global (now) tv! He doesn't even supply ANY good advice whatsoever! Is it really that easy to become famous. PAthetic!

I agree somedays that there is genuinely too much sport on the telly, usually when other programs are disrupted by over-running matches. Why wasn't there enough time allotted to the match to make sure that there is no disruption.

I don't know why there is sometimes three channels with Horse racing on. It doesn't really need to be watched, it can be just listened to. This could be done away with as there is nothing more boring than sitting there watching a few tamed and trained animals running about with little men on their backs. (what a pointless sport: "My horse is better than your Horse" said in a little girls voice) Readers; please give me 1 reason why it is enjoyable to watch.

Now almost all the sports have been moved from the very capable and talented hands of the BBC to the inexpert, advert fillers on ITV or SKY, the enjoyability of watching F1 and cricket has dropped dramatically. The action just gets going and they go and shove a b***dy advert in there! The music on the F1 break, now drives me to near violence! ;)

In my humble opinion instead of reducing the number of sports, increase the number of channels (BBC channels with NO adverts) and put them on there. so that there is plenty on at the same time for people to watch. (this is a no hoper but you never know)

I also might not let BBC2 show any sports whatsoever as they keep messing about with the schedule. Voyager was midway through the last series
when the W. olympics came and they suspended voyager. This I can understand. Then they put it back on for ONE WEEK - ONE MEASLY EPISODE! and then suspended it again for the snooker is it me or is that a bit naughty? Comments please

I too hate the F1 break music; why is it that the most exciting part of the race always happens during the break!

I agree with you, the programmes i watch, star trek, voyager, Buffy, etc take almost a year to get through a series because they interrupt them for snooker, wimbledon, olympic games, and even robot olympics...please.
