The 1999 winners, Manchester United, are second favourites at 6/1. The 1999 side has remained largely intact, with the quality additions of Silvestre, Barthez, Veron and Van Nistlerooy. Keane, Stam and Barthez ... more

The Champions League continues to enhance its reputation as the premier club competition in the world. The best players in the world will contest the most valuable and coveted pot in club football. The change of format from the knock out European Cup to the bigger structured Champions League has disadvantaged smaller clubs, but has made the competition much stronger and significantly harder to win. Clubs must play 17 games to win the competition compared to 9 under the old format. Stronger leagues such as England, Spain have multiple entrants, keeping out weaker teams, so increasing the overall standard of the entrants. With the worlds biggest clubs going head to ...  Read the complete review

For all those with out a life or commitments on a beautiful summers evening, The Champions league final provided a pathetic excuse to stay in.168 games and here they are in the San Siro hoping to bore us to tears in the show piece final style of old. They duly did with the tactical slugfest and obligatory big match shoot out. While new university art students contemplated when to get the new Beckham look in packed college pubs, the Germans began the clinical grind to amend that fateful night two long years ago. A predictable 45 percent off the crowd were press and guest of the sponsors. The new “Fester ball” was presented to the world. ...  Read the complete review

We are down to the last four in the Champions League, and although Manchester United are out of the competition English interest is still present, in the shape of Leeds United. However I still feel that Real Madrid are favourites to repeat their success of last year. REAL MADRID =========== The winners from last year, they have only become stronger since the purchase of Luis Figo. The firepower they possess, with the likes of Raul, Figo and McManaman is simply awesome. Any doubts about their defence can be ignored because they have the ability to simply outscore anyone. If they are to slip up I predict it will be in their Semi against ...  Read the complete review

The UEFA Champions League is unquestionably the most important prize in World Club Football. Even though it is only competed by European teams, this marvellous competition is shown, and watched, all across the world. There is no question that Europe is where the best football is played. Every big star plays somewhere in Europe. Europe is where the money is the highest, where the crowds are the biggest, where the football is the best. The UEFA Champions League is where the best of the best is played. No longer do the dominant teams really even care about their national leagues such as the Premiership, Serie A, La Liga and the Bundesliga. That is not where the ...  Read the complete review

After getting over the initial depression of Man Utd crashing out of the Champions League i realise that its actually not that bad. I supported Man Utd for the exciting attacking football that they played - but after Leeds United first half display against Deportivo i think the Champions League is not over for the English teams!!! Leeds have adopted the never lost till the final whistle attitude that led Manchester United to their title in the 1999 season! - i think the fact that they are considered the underdog in every match they play helps them considerably! Leeds United however having a winning formula - i admit at the beginning of the ...  Read the complete review
