Advantages: tax cut = spend less

Disadvantages: tax cut = gain less

All the people who whinge about the price of petrol should do well to remember that they have enough money to spare from purchasing essentials so that they can buy a car.
Romania has petrol priced at around 30p a litre, where would you rather live, with all due respect, Romania is not as developed as GB.

Now is it fair that other countries can get the same product cheaper than we can? No is the immediate answer, but also think of the fact that the French, who pay around 10p a litre, tax less than Britain. But they have to endure the extra burden of 40% in the £ for the basic rate of income tax.
Now, doing a little calculation; if you earn £20,000 p/a the extra 7p per £ is worth £1,400 or on current prices, 1902 litres, 414 gallons, or over 8 full tanks of petrol for the average car.

Farmers and Hauliers are usually the instigators in the situation. When they did their blockade they enforced the situation on everyone, at had a lot of initial support early on in that September week, yet how many of us stuck by our principles on August the first.
And did they think the dump the pump day would work? So people dint fill their tanks on August 1st, they did it on July 31st or August 2nd instead.
Now if I have learnt anything from A-level History it would be that the Conservative Party has traditionally been the party of protecting the Status Quo and been consisted on 'landed aristocracy' - or those that hold ownership of farms - whether they farm it or not.
Is it not coincidence that they attack a Labour Government, and not the Tories who introduced the fuel escalator.

The simple fact is, you do not NEED petrol, and if you object to its price do not pay it, no body is forcing you to buy any, you chose to, so can not complain about it.
I would understand if you were being charged the same amount of tax for every litre of water that came out your taps. But petrol is a luxury and is in ever decreasing supply, you shou
ld expect to pay for it.
