Advantages: Show how we feel
Disadvantages: Reluctance of brittish people to defy athourity
Defenders of high petrol prices (ie ploppititans) claim that the tax is fair because it targets users and the alternative would be high income tax. Well, We are all hit by high fuel prices as it inflates the transport costs of shipping goods from factory to warehouse to supermarket etc. We have very high food prices. Especially when seen in the light of what our farmers actually get for their produce. It's time for action. The 'dump the pump' day is a reasonable start but it really is only a gesture, that's all. Though it was made illegal, during the Conservative era, to have general & secondary strike action, that is what we need to do to persuade this government that we have had enough. We need a dump the pump/supermarket/workplace/anything day. A national day of of not using oil based fuels at the very least. Anyone up for it? Remember: talk-action=0

- 28/09/01 Apart from being short, the attention to detail (spelling & grammar) is very poor and it adds nothing to the debate.
I would suggest that you read other opinions, particularly those which have been crowned. And as mpeh says, .. keep writing .. it can only get better. |

- 28/09/01 sorry about the low rating but this op is a litle short. You need to explore the arguments more and give people (like me) something to get their teeth into. take a look at other ops on site and se what theyre like. keep writing. mpeh |
