I know that there are a lot of people out there who think Valentine's Day is silly and commercial, or who like spending it with their loved one but don't make a big thing out of it or spend any money.

I have to say I'm not one of those people! Being in a long distance relationship, any time I spend with Joe is special and I look forward to things like birthdays and valentine's as we don't spend Christmas or new year together even though we swap presents.

This Valentine's Day I didn't want to spend a lot of money but ended up spending quite a bit! Firstly, thanks to another dooyoo member I found out about an amazing website and bought him a 5kg bar of Dairy Milk (the website I will review later on).

Secondly, I wanted to plan the day a bit so decided we could go to visit Bath on the train - with our railcards it was only £12 return for both of us. We wandered around the little cobblestone streets and the lovely bookshops and the amazing fresh fudge shop and the Italian ice cream place. There were also lovely gardens and a bridge (and Sham Castle which we didn't end up seeing). All in all the day itself wasn't that expensive, but neither of us had ever been to Bath before so it was exciting just wandering around and seeing what was there. I'm glad we went because it was really lovely and I'm looking forward to going back.

Then as a great end to the end we went to my local Blockbuster and they had a fantastic 4 films for £10 sale on so we got 4 each (I don't understand people who pay £4 per film to rent it for 1 night like the woman in the queue next to us!!).

Unfortunately the weekend wasn't all perfect because Joe ended up missing a train on the way down to me and had to get taxis costing £60 (!) So he didn't arrive until 2am, but as he had roses, a necklace and a mini snow leopard toy for me, I forgave him :P Sadly he's gone back to Nottingham now and I won't see him till March, but I had a great weekend overall.

I know that people think it can be a waste of money and is overcommercialised, but funnily enough these people don't say the same thing about mother's day or father's day!

Summary: I love it
