Visa applications - Have you had any trouble getting a visa to visit a foreign country?

Description: How did you sort it out? Have you got any tips for other dooyoo users?

Newest Review: ... We congratulated each other on how far things had gone (not that we had done it but at least it had gotten this far) and didn't think anything else about it. We had plenty of time to get things ready for us to leave. We were getting things prepared for selling, getting our personal belongings ready to be shipped and had even bought our tickets because we were sure we would have my passport ... more

... back by then. The next 5 and 1/2 weeks sped by and it seemed like we were on a roll! But then we took stock of what was happening! Where had my passport disappeared to? Why hadn't we heard back on my passport? What in the world was going on? ...more

I must say to begin with that I am an American citizen and I was looking to get a visa to come to here to England. After all, my husband is British and all three of my children are British so why wouldn't I want to tag along with them? All of my family wanted me to tag along and I felt it was best for our family. The real deal is you have to fill out the paperwork and tell them all about yourself before they will give you permission so I decided to do that. Of course, my husband helped me fill out the paperwork as he knew exactly what to do and it looked too complicated to me. It took awhile but we got it finished and then decided to send it ...  Read the complete review

For those of you who may have already read some of my earlier opinions, you will see that I have lived in the United States of America for some time now, about 15 months altogether (Mar 2003). Being allowed to Work When I left England, in the winter of 2001, I had a Visa, 2 of the heaviest suitcases known to man, and a one way ticket to a ‘small’ town, Idaho Falls. The reason I left was basically because I had the chance to do something which not many people get the chance to do, to live in a foreign country, especially one that speaks a vaguely similar language!!!! Thinking that having a Visa, which was the same as my dads and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Visa applications - Have you had any trouble getting a visa to visit a foreign country?: Dominican Republic Visa (192 words)

You need an Immigration Visa to visit the Dominican Republic like you do with most Caribbean countries, however this one proved a little more awkward. They are actually purchasable through the travel agent, we were given an address to send of and apply for them from. They cost us a bout £10 each ? 1 per person. They are then sent to you address and you can fill them in, in your own time weeks before your flight. Reason for this is you are not allowed to make a mistake, if a mistake is made it invalidates to Visa and you have to purchase another. I would highly recommend purchasing them before hand, otherwise you have to get them when you land at Dominican ...  Read the complete review

I’ve never been what you would call a big traveller. Sure, I’ve been out of the country, and I’ve seen a few countries – mostly in Europe. I’ve never been away for too long though. I’m also a people orientated traveller – while I don’t have a big desire to see other parts of the world, with maybe the exception of about 3 cities, but I don’t mind travelling to visit friends or family. In fact, this is one of the reasons I’m looking for a visa. Recently, however I’ve been thinking about taking myself off for a longer period of time. At the moment, I’m thinking of around six months to a year, ...  Read the complete review

My name is Dave and I have a problem. I fell in love with an American. If I was living in England now, I would expect a barrage of abuse, and possibly some blunt objects, but being safe in Atlanta at the moment, I can continue unharmed. If you're mumbling dirty words under your breath, however, don't worry - I was just as shocked as you to discover love in the Land of the Trailer, Home of the Imbecile. But my love life is another story - what I'm really trying to tell you about is the arduous - nay soul-crushing - process that the Americans like to call a fiance(e) visa application. Back in July, 2000, my then-fiancee and myself decided that it would ...  Read the complete review
