Like all things in life some actions are not necessary and are more about money than the practical as is probably the case with some vivisection. I do feel however that most of the protesters outside some of the controversial vivisection buildings will have benefitted from animal experimentation in the products they buy ,be it medical or cosmetics, or any number of things they are unaware of like air conditioning at Uni or preservatives in food.
The one thing that bugs me about the protesters is that the animals that get all the sympathy are the cute or majestic ones like cats and dogs or whales and dolphins rather than insects or tuna fish.
Maybe it says more about the protesters' emotions towards relationships with their own species, perhaps being more endeared to pets, relating to entities that won’t argue with them or hold conversation. Just sit there and be cuddly.
How many flies and hedgehogs are killed under the wheels of family cars driving to the protests, or insects on the windshield - well they are only flies.
OK, the bulk of the protesters probably don’t use make-up thats been developed by vivisection and have a strong argument against the en mass approach to animal laboratory testing.
But at the end of the day the "percentage" of testing done is for the good of mankind and of course the detriment of human-like aesthetically pleasing animals.
For some reason mice don’t seem to get as much sympathy as cats but rats are the bad boys even though they are related, good and ugly. See my point folks.
