Advantages: Could fine treatments
Disadvantages: Cruel
Vivisection means ''cutting while still alive'' but these days it refers to experiments performed on animals. Many different animals suffer this fate, including monkeys, baboons, dogs cats and so on. The way it is done is they are poisoned, mutilated, forced to inhale toxic substances. Most of the experiments are carried out with no anaesetic at all, and all the animals inevitably die. Can it ever be justified by saying well we are sacrifycing one life for a human life, who are we to decide that the animals life is less important than a human being, we were all put here for a reason, and I certainly do not think it was to cause needless suffering, okay I would be happy if I had an illness and they cured it, all because they tested it on the animal first, but surely it is wrong. We get paid and have the choice to take part in clinical trials but the animals do not. I do now a little of what I am talking about as I work in this type of environment and I still cannot understand this suffering. I am not some type of animal right protester I beleive everybody has their own opinion and this is mine. It is morally wrong, there must be another way to do this. I suppose at the moment it is being justified as we are finding all wonderful cures to cure most illnesses, but who are we to say we are more important and play god

crispy - 12.10.01 I've justified killing animals for a lot less! I've dissected (and vivisected) all sorts of things in the course of my education, culminating in a biology degree that I don't actually use at all in my career.
If you don't like animal testing, fair enough, stick with your non-animal-tested produce. I'm not going to hold it against you. It's when activists go breaking into labs and releasing things that problems start... |
