Premium Review Vivisection: MEDICAL VIVISECTION - WE NEED IT (201 words)
by - written on 09/08/09 (Useful, 152 readings)
Rating:

I would first and foremost like to apologize for my poor previous attempt at this review. There are 2 forms of vivisection in my opinion. Necessary and unnecessary. Necessary vivisection is on medical grounds and unnecessary is on cosmetically grounds. In my opinion apposing medical vivisection is an extremely foolhardy ...  Read the complete review

I do not - in any circumstances - agree with this. It is utterly wrong. Making animals grow tumours just so that we can test drugs on them? No! Why do we think it is ok for innocent animals to be horrifically tested upon, when we wouldn't do this to ourselves? Its cowardly! Shampoo and cosmetics dripped in rabbits eyes? How can ANYONE justify ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Vivisection: The mice have agreed my medicine (185 words)
by - written on 21/11/08 (Useful, 166 readings)

I both agree and disagree with animal testing. The part of animal testing I don't like is cosmetics and beauty products as I don't see the point of it, but where medical advancement is concerned I agree with it. I don't mean this is a horrible way, but this is something which affects me in a big way. I have epilepsy which is medically ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Vivisection: Do we have the right to play 'god'? (1555 words)
by - written on 04/11/07 (Very useful, 356 readings)

I have swung from one end of the spectrum to the other with this review. It is hard to give a balanced review with so many conflicting stories and pictures out there. My overall opinion is that animal testing is a necessary evil until an alternative is found. I don’t want to sound cold hearted and cruel but without these animals the human race ...  Read the complete review

I finally managed to watch the program Animals which I recorded a couple of weeks ago from Channel 4. Now I hear a lot of you saying this is meant to be a review on Vivisection. Well, that’s what this is but this program brought this subject to my mind. I have always been in two minds when it comes to this controversial issue. On one ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Vivisection: Alternatives (172 words)

I really do love animals. Mind you, I'm not a radical. I've never protested, never worn a button against anything harming them. Vivisection has always been a big issue for me. I've done a lot of thinking and asking about it. And this is what I've come up with-- What people don't know is that THERE ARE ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Senseless Killing (518 words)
by - written on 01/12/02 (Very useful, 439 readings)
Rating:

I used to be neutral with regards to vivisection. I thought that if it wasn't for animal testing, we'd have no cures, no new medicines, and very few safe products. I didn't like the idea of blatantly mutilating and killing animals, but I figured whatever was being done in the research labs was only necessary, and for the benefit of ...  Read the complete review

As with my similarly related op in this category, I'd just like to re-iterate that this is not an opinion as such but more of a way in which you can help. For further info, please read my non-animal friendly companies op, too. Below, I have compiled this list of "safe" brands which I obtained from buav.org and peta.org. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A necessary evil. (372 words)
by - written on 08/07/02 (Very useful, 274 readings)
Rating:

Vivisection can be cruel. It can hurt animals, despite all the Government controls and the regulations. The question is, can it be justified? I think it can. Vivisection and other, similar areas can all be split into two major areas. That which is necessary, such as medical testing. That which is unnecessary, such as cosmetic testing. I have been reading a lot of these opinions. As I have experience in this and most people here don't I thought I would share them. I work in a medical testing centre looking after mice. I am not the person who does the tests, I look after them and breed them until they are needed. I also have to cull any excess mice, which is ...  Read the complete review

Save the cow, kill the pigs. (617 words)

My thoughts on vivisection are that almost all-animal experiments are essential and if you want cures for conditions and illnesses. Yes Huntington Life sciences do use animals to test cosmetics for human skin effects. But most of the female population likes to put on a bit of slap now and then for self-confidence and attracting men ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Vivisection: You dont have to watch, but you will get better! (808 words)
by - written on 04/12/01 (Very useful, 100 readings)
Rating:

You dont have to watch do you? But you will definitely benifit from the results. At least this is what most reasonably minded people would like to think. The torturing of defenseless animals in the name of crucial scientific research, like which shampoo really hurts the eyes if you inject 200 cc's of it directly into the eye. Well, actually ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review What is Vivisection? (265 words)
by - written on 10/10/01 (Useful, 1039 readings)
Rating:

Vivisection means ''cutting while still alive'' but these days it refers to experiments performed on animals. Many different animals suffer this fate, including monkeys, baboons, dogs cats and so on. The way it is done is they are poisoned, mutilated, forced to inhale toxic substances. Most of the experiments are carried ...  Read the complete review

As is the case with many I was undecided whether to write an opinion on such a contentious issue. As a chemist, I don’t have first hand experience of performing vivisection although I do have a great deal of laboratory experience and I feel that it makes me at least have one viewpoint from which to comment. Okay I’m not going to say ...  Read the complete review

Rating:

Animals have been used for product testing for years, and years, and years...so why stop now? Well, I can't think of a defined reason why the tests being performed should be out ruled by the law, or stopped, but what I can't get my head around is why animals are used, and put through so much pain sometimes only for the benefit of whether ...  Read the complete review
