Here is the history of the WWWF/WWF/WWE for all you people who don't know much about the brilliant that is Sports entertainment.

It all started in 1963 when Vincent j McMahon senior started a company called the Capitol Wrestling Corporation or CWC as it was known this together with the NWA were major wrestling factions back in there day. McMahon Senior decided the time had come to enter a new wrestling promotion and so started the WWWF (world wide wrestling federation) along with the original ' Nature boy' Buddy Rogers.

Buddy Rogers was the NWA champion at the time, so he had to lose the title to Lou Thesz before he left the brand. In mid April Buddy was awarded the WWWF title but lost it to Bruno Sammartino.

The WWWF became the WWF for commercial purposes, in Mid - 1979. In 1983 Vincent k McMahon took over from his father. Against his fathers wishes Vince changed the corporation to become more Entertainment based than sports based. Vince's father didn't approve of this and warned him that he would be doing more harm than good by changing the future of the wrestling industry.

When Vince took the WWF from regional to national heights he virtually placed the company into financial breakdown. as it was costing millions to revenue the company on such a huge scale.

Then Vince came up with the groundbreaking idea of Wrestlemania. A Pay per view extravaganza with big names and huge status. Vince wanted the idea to become as big as the super bowl. if it had failed Vince would officially be bankrupt and the WWF would never have happened.

Wrestlemania was infarct a resounding success with thanks to huge named celebrities such as Mr T and Cyndi Lauper, And also with some help from the top wrestler of the day Hulk Hogan. The WWF had taken off big style.

The new generation of wrestling started in 1994 when the monday night wars broke out. This was a huge ratings battle between the WWF and the other top named wrestling brand World Championship Wrestling or WCW as it was known. WCW was ran by Eric bishoff and owned by Ted turner. WCW was growing in enormous popularity with huge names such as randy Savage, Scott hall, Kevin Nash, and Sting. All of whom were former WWF superstars.

Vince acted on this threat from his rival competition by stating he would create new superstars and new gimmicks to regain control in the ratings war. And Vince did just that with the help from huge stars such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Heartbreak kid Shawn Michael's, Bret Hart and the Undertaker.

After beating WCW in the rating wars for several months. Bret hart announced that he was leaving the company that had given him such huge status. As the WWF champ Vince was not going to let Bret walk to WCW with his championship belt. So vince came up with the ultimate screw job. At the survivor series 1997 Vince screwed bret out of the title by ringing the bell and awarding Shawn Michael's the champion during there title match. This caused huge uproar in brets home country. Backstage a huge row broke out between vince and bret and bret ended up breaking the relationship by breaking vince's nose.

Then came the time for Vince to start participating more in the wrestling side of the business. to do this Vince started to become an active wrestler. He and Stone cold produced one of the biggest rivalry's ever in wrestling history and made Stone cold a Massive worldwide superstar.

Then tragedy stuck the whole wrestling community on May 23rd 1999, a massive name in the WWF Owen Hart died live on air. He was meant to fly down to the ring as a superhero style entrance when there was a mechanical fault with the hoist that was to lower him from the ceiling. Owen fell 80ft from the arena ceiling to the ring, hitting his head on the turnbuckle and breaking his neck. Owen was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. The ring announcers did a great job of not dramatizing the whole situation and throughout the show did not show any of the horror that had unfolded in the arena.

Owen hart was a well loved wrestler, father, husband, son, brother and friend. He was a magnificent person and always made everyone smile. I for one will truly miss him and it makes me sad to relive the tragedy of that night as i watched it live. The next night on raw there was a moving tribute to Owen and i would now like to copy and paste a small piece that Mark henry another wrestler said on that night as i feel it is a moving and appropriate tribute to this great man.........

You feel the burn when you cry, the pain you feel as your eyes swell and the tears will up in the wells, the burn starts to choke you up the words come out slow and shaken, you close your eyes and wonder why, there is a burn when you cry. When Owen left it felt like hands around my throat, I couldn't talk I couldn't see, the Burn over whelmed me, my heart is heavy this is why, you get the burn when you cry, it digs down deep you can not sleep, you toss and turn in your sheets, awaken with sobs and wet pillow cases, you wander aimlessly looking to the sky, you feel the burn when you cry.
-Mark Henry

Thank you for letting me share that with you all.

In 1999 the WWF launched smackdown a weekly show to go side by side with Raw. This became the whole Attitude era of the WWF.

With the massive success of WWF attitude WCW slowly went into decline. In march 2001 WWF bought out WCW for $7 million. During the last broadcast of wcw Vince took over the last half hour with his raw show. Then came the takeover of another wrestling brand Extreme championship wrestling or ECW.

This opened a new storyline opportunity for vince who decided that it would be potentially good for his daughter to run ECW and his son to run WCW. With this storyline in production a new feud erupted between the three factions, all live on raw and smackdown.

Then came the law suit . The World Wildlife fund decided that they would sue the WWF for use of there name. The Pandas won and WWF was forced to change there name to WWE ( world Wrestling Entertainment)

With WCW out of the way vince thought the time had come to enter a new rivalry into the business so he split raw and smackdown into separate brands. no longer would the two brands run side by side they were now in direct competition to one another.

RAW - WWE's flagship show, airs live on Monday nights
Sunday Night Heat - Sister show to RAW, airs Sunday nights
Bottom Line - Syndicated show that recaps the past week's events on the RAW brand.

SmackDown! - WWE's secondary show, airs Thursday nights
Velocity - Sister show to SmackDown!, airs on Saturday Afterburn - Syndicated show that recaps the past week's events on the SmackDown! brand.

The WWE rocketed to extreme heights with international superstars such as the rock who is now a huge moviestar, stone cold who is no longer an active wrestler but is becoming a movie star also.

The wwe has had numerous championships in its history including: The WWE championship, The world championship, The European championship, The intercontinental Championship, The united states championship, The tag championships, the hardcore championship, and the woman's championship.
