Advantages: entertainment
Disadvantages: yes it is fake (to an extent)
Well well well, finally, the reviews, have come back, to dooyoo. Apologies for the corny as hell start to this review, but the line was just far too easy to use, and far too tempting for a cheap gag. Anyways, i am going to basically make a stand in favour of the WWF, because in all honesty i cannot lie, i am a big fan of it! I have watched the WWF for a number of years, and we are talking hulk hogan, andre the giant, and jake the snake era here! But it is only say the last 3/4 years, since the whole WWF Attitude movement came into force, that it has had me gripped. This whole thing started to get good when the likes of the rivalry between Steve Austin and Vince McMahon became intense, and influenced many more good rivalries to ensue. Before i go any further, i do appreciate the thought that wrestling (or sports entertainment) is essentially, choreographed, fake, false, whatever you want to call it, so i won't stand for criticism there, but what i will say, is that it is one hell of a good soap opera, and beats the mush out of the likes of coronation street, and eastenders. Anyways, back to my initial point! I think that ever since the attitude movement began, we have been able to see far more realistic grudges, and far more entertainment in and out of the ring, as the promotors strive to push both the athletes and fans to their own limits of acceptance, such as when Mick Foley flew 20 feet off the top of the Hell In A Cell, when the Undertaker (a personal fave i might add) threw him off. That was something that was actually unplanned, but the wrestlers themselves decided to do half way through the match! Then there are the inferno matches, again, with the Undertaker, this time with kane, and the first guy to be set on fire loses basically. There has also been the merging of the ECW and WCW factions recently, well, before the WWF defeated them to become sole major promotor, and merge the WC
W and WWF titles. That was a pretty goods storyline, yet there was a couple of things missing, these came in the names of Sting, Goldberg, and the fact Triple H was injured. If those 3 were added to the equation, i feel the story would have been far stronger, and possibly a fair bit more exciting to watch, after all, Triple H has been known to go a bit mad with sledgehammers in the past. Anyway, yet another new dawn has broken, and now is the time of the undisputed champion, which is currently Triple H, yet there is still the factor of Goldberg that is severly missing from the Federation, after all, there are now Wrestlers such as Goldust, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Hollywood Hulk Hogan (formerly just Hulk Hogan), who have made the return, yet still Goldberg doesn't, i have read in reports that they are still having legal troubles in signing him, but i imagine that any legal worries should have been well and truly sorted by now, so either they are waiting for the right moment to unleash him into the WWF, or he just doesn't want to be a part of the Federation, and is waiting for the WCW to re emerge. I have also read the book of a certain Mick Foley, and it is actually an enthralling read, some of the things he went through in order to become one of the greats of the sport is absolutely phenominal, such as having his ear ripped off in Germany, having tables explode on him in the Japanese Death Matches, where they use barbed wire for ropes. He tells of how in order to become a wrestler, you have to be dedicated, and that is an understatement to say the least. The training is intense, and the pain factor is likewise, every move has to at least look realistic, and in order for that effect, then it has to be painfull, albeit within limits of course! However, Mrs Foley's baby boy made it, and he became a superstar. It took him a long tome to get there, but he did in the end, and he reaped the rewards, although after seeing
the footage when his children were in the audience, and they saw their father bleeding (yes real blood), after he had been hit over the head 14 times with a chair, i wouldn't have blamed him for never getting into the ring again. Anyways, after all the smoke has cleared, the WWF will still remain, it has done for decades, and a company with as much money involved as that, will be here again for decades to come. I know i have resubmitted this op, it wasn't just to get more credits, when i first wrote it i didn't have chance to proof read it and there was a lot of mistakes (pointed out by a friend) so i have just cleared it up. Later peeps.

- 21/03/02 yeah, some of the wrestlers promos get shown far too much too, like the HHH one with U2 plying to it, that goit shown practically every 5 minutes and it got silly |

- 21/03/02 Nice op. It certainly is great entertainment. Some shows though can be spoiled with the constant 'earlier on RAW...' footage which then takes up loads of time which could be spent watching a match. Still, we enjoy watching it, nonetheless!
