Well it has been about a year since I last graced the pages of dooyoo so I thought in my hour (or seconds) of wisedom to write yet another dross offering.

As a wrestling journalist and, more importantly, a wrestling fan I have near enough seen it all from gay weddings to lesbianism to shoot fights but there was one thing that I had never seen, that was the tragic death of the late great Owen Hart.

Owen Hart fell 60ft to his death at a Pay-Per-View called Over The Edge 1999 and landed head first in the middle of the ring, the fall was erased from the Pay-Per-View and it appears as if it never happened but it did happen and tonight for the first time ever I saw the Raw that followed that infamous Pay-Per-View.

What I saw moved me a lot, I sat on my couch with a huge lump in my throat as I saw wrestling stars such as Jeff Jerret, Triple H, Mick Foley, Edge and many others break down in tears as they gave speeches about the Canadian great.

It takes a lot to make this cynical old wrestling fan shed a tear and believe me I was sitting in my living room with tears rolling down my cheeks as I watched as every single superstar stood in silence with the fans as a 10-bell salute rang out through the arena.

I remember after that fateful Raw show went out a lot of critics said that it was a huge publicity stunt by the board and the wrestlers at WWF to make the company look good, I think personally that is an insult to not only Owen's Memory but the wrestlers themselves.

I do not believe for one minute that this Raw was planned or staged in anyway when it came to those wrestlers and their feelings for Owen, and what's more I feel that the people that are so cynical that they actually believe that good honest people like Mick Foley would use Owen's death like that should be ashamed of themselves.

Mick Foley, Triple H, Jeff and Debra cried their hearts out live on national TV and the response was to in
sinuate that they are only doing it to make the WWF look bad is an absolute disgrace.

I never had the pleasure of seeing Owen Hart wrestle and I wish I had because I have heard nothing but great stories from wrestlers and his fans, but these people who sit on their high horses and mock these wrestlers for saying a public goodbye to not only their friend but a fantastic human being could not be more wrong than they are.

As Mick Foley once said in his first best selling book:

"Goodbye my friend - god took you way too soon."

Not really my thing, but my boyfriend loves wrestling. I have been forced to sit through a couple of shows. Have not seen that Raw one though.

Interesting but wrestling has never appealed.
