Advantages: Gets you things you'd never normally buy
Disadvantages: can waste a little
I have read a few reviews regarding what people spend their hard earned dooyoo miles on, some have been very interesting indeed, so I thought I'd jump onto the bandwagon once more to give you my rather interesting run down on what I spend my miles on.
Well here goes then...
I joined dooyoo in March 2008 mainly as I wanted to give my opinions on certain items, so when the dooyoo miles started to build up I felt this was a bonus... and over the time I have used most of my miles for Amazon vouchers, redeeming a lot of them over the Christmas period to get presents for friends and family... this freed up cash for other items such as food and the good old fashioned drinks, (which is essential over the festive period).
I was initially going to save my redemption until I reached the 50,000 cheque mark but as birthdays approached my decision to wait until I redeem would change as someone would ask for a certain item, which I knew I could get at a bargain price from good old Amazon, (call me a cheapskate if you want but if I can get the same item cheaper then that'll do me).
Since then I have bought many items from Amazon, including DVDs, CDs, books, PC bits and bobs...such as software, memory modules and such like...which I know would have cost me a lot more on the high street.
In fact, some of the stuff I have bought I haven't even really needed but as it was so cheap I just couldn't refuse...(and you never know what some one may want for their birthdays)...and as each item has been purchased by vouchers it does saves giving bank details on-line I suppose.
In fact, I still constantly browse the pages of Amazon, checking out the latest offers which I might need, and then aim to earn the mile so as to get the item in question.
And what's more, it is easier having the voucher sent by e-mail as if my wife sees money in my bank account she feels the need to go shopping for shoes and handbags...(how many handbags and shoes does one woman want..?)
Although one of my many New Years resolutions which I made for this year was to try and save as many dooyoo miles I could so I can bulk out my bank balance, but with the state of the countries banking world I may soon change my mind...as it seems that parcels sent through the post via Amazon are safer than saving money in the bank???
I toyed with the ideas of giving some earnings to charities but as I tend to do my bit for charities, with donations and such like, the idea soon fizzled away, although I may still give in the future.
So in all, I go with the Amazon voucher approach as I find this to be the best for deals and safest for on-line fraudsters who want to get hold of your bank details...(not that they'd have much to spend as I'm a bit skint at the moment)...
Summary: To spend or not to spend... and on what...????
