What Do You Think of Internet Dating?

I basically review internet dating sites for a living with a small group of partners. In general, the main issue I see people facing is that they have unrealistic expectations of internet dating sites. In general, if you're not good at dating in the real world, you won't be good in in the online world. I've reviewed quite a number of sites, and a lot of them are pretty bad. There's just too many of them that feature fake profiles or list expired profiles. I've never tried internet dating but I'm generally all for the idea! I have a friend who signed up to match.com a few months ago. Her history with men is absolutely disasterous - she has never had a boyfriend, choosing instead to obsess over men who either don't like her or just use her for sex. I had got really exasperated with her after last little cherade (with a married man who had a new born baby) and was, to be honest, ready to give up the goose. Ok. First and foremost, I have no experience with internet dating. The thought has never really crossed my mind. To be honest, I am far too wary of internet crazies, to ever have the inclination to meet someone from the internet, for romantic purposes. I have a profile on myspace. Internet dating has always scared me a bit. I have a real uneasiness about it all. The whole idea that I should put myself into a lottery and hope that I pick a winner is way too scary for me. Maybe it's a matter of age. I'm not convinced that this is an acceptable, or indeed a safe way to meet although I am fully aware that it's the way things are done these days.
