What's in my bag?
For a number of years I have constantly reviewed what I carry in both my bag and my pockets and I am a bit anal about it. I always try to make sure I have everything I might need in an emergency. I am not talking about end of the world / zombie infestation survival scenarios but general everyday problems that everybody encounters.
To begin with, in my pockets, I always carry a Leatherman micra multitool, a microstream flashlight and a 4gb flash drive with personal data, scans of important docs like insurance certificates and passwords.
My current every day carry bag of choice is a Dakine Heli Pro rucksack. Into this goes my Netbook, Nintendo DS, phone, various chargers, 32gb Survivor flash drive, First aid kit, hand cream, tissues, hand sanitizer, a couple of reusable carrier bags, gloves, hat, Leahterman Wave multitool, Attwood nibble prybar, ipod nano, skull candy headphones, spare batteries (AA + AAA), bottle of water, a couple of cereal bars, gaffer tape, moleskin notebook and a fisher spacepen, Wifi hotspot locator, 10m of paracord and come zip ties.
You would be surprised how often it all gets used.

Summary: I carry a lot of stuff
