Advantages: I'm well prepared for all eventualities

Disadvantages: It's heavy carrying all this around

First of all, which bag? I have two handbags in current use - a large brown leather Radley bag which I use for work and a black leather-cross body Radley bag which I use for days when I'm doing the 'Mummy' thing and going out with my two-year old. The only consistent contents of these bags are my purse (a black Radley one with a blue dog), my keys, my pink mobile phone and my Oyster card (also in a Radley holder) - I think I might be a little bit obsessed with Radley stuff. Anyway, I'm going to be completely honest about the contents of my bags so please don't be too horrified!

My work bag
In this bag, in addition to the items already mentioned above, I have a book - currently this is 'People of the Book' by Geraldine Brooks but I read fast and get through at least a book a week on my commute, so this is subject to change. I also have my work keys and swipe card, a mini hair-brush, a small selection of emergency make-up (Boots No. 7 mascara, eye pencil and eyeshadow compact, Benefit lip-gloss), a small Radley mirror, a packet of headache tablets, half a packet of Lockets left over from a sore throat a couple of weeks ago, a Wispa bar wrapper which still hasn't made it to the bin after I ate it on the tube last week, a selection of different sized Tampax, my sunglasses and a couple of receipts.

My 'Mummy' bag
In addition to purse, phone and keys I have an assortment of my own personal stuff and my son's paraphenalia. My son's things consist of two little boxes of raisins, a small pack of baby wipes, a spare nappy (as i didn't take the changing bag out this morning), two little toy cars and a Thomas the Tank Engine that he wouldn't leave the house without this morning. For me, I have two Tampax, a couple of Boots money-off vouchers and a ticket for tonight's match between Chelsea and Juventus (so I don't spend half an hour looking for it when I need to leave tonight). There are also a couple of receipts in there, but I've had a clear-out at the weekend so it's much better than normal.

Conclusion
I carry a LOT of stuff around with me... I think reading back on this I could do with being a bit more minimalist, but I just feel so much happier having everything there just in case I need it.

Summary: Could do with a bit of a clear-out, but I like it like this!

I love Radley too, my cross body bag is starting to look battered. I also have a work and home bag - lucky you having a chelsea ticket in yours though! :)

Interesting! :0) I used to carry so much in my handbag that I couldnm't find anything - a few years ago I decided to size down my handbags to get out of the chuck everything in habit. Now I get mad because I can't close the damn thing!
