Advantages: I'd be rich
Disadvantages: none
Every week I buy just one lottery tickey, I know the chances of winning are miniscule but a pound a week to keep my dreams alive seems like a good deal to me.
The first thing I would do, assuming a major win, is to give 10% to charity. Theres only so much money you can spend during a lifetime and I would love to spread my good fortune around. I would give a significant sum to the renal unit who saved my little girls life and continue to keep her healthy to use in any way they see fit. I would set up a fund in memory of my dear friend who took her own life last year after struggling for many years with depression and eating disorders and make sure that she is never forgotten.
Good deeds done its time for the boring bit. I dont have a clue about investments but I would make sure that my money was invested well so that I never had to worry about keeping a roof over my head or car repairs again. Of course I would set up some kind of trust funds for my kids and nieces and nephew, enough to pay for their education and give them a good start to their adult lives. People like my sister and best friend would of course also be well looked after.
Call me nasty but I wouldnt be able to keep my good fortune a secret. I would have to rub it into the face of my ex (who thinks that the £1.66 a fortnight the CSA make him pay while he drives a BMW and motorbike and has a classic car in the garage is reasonable). The look on his face would be priceless when he sees me driving around in a porche or merc and i would take great pleasure in taking that £1.66 (in sharpened pennies) and sticking it somewhere painful! Similarly my evil stepmother and ugly stepsisters will be green with envy when I just happen to swan past their houses in my designer frock and shoes. They may sell stories of my sordid past to the news of the world I can see the headlines now, Lottery winners secret sordid past but I dont care. I know who my real friends and family are, they have stuck by me in good and bad times and they are the people who matter.
Now its time to have some fun with my money. I know what house I want to buy, its only about 5 miles away from where I live now and the current owners wouldnt be able to resist my offer to buy it off them. Its a huge old house by the sea with massive gardens. It will be great fun having someone else to clean it for me and I can promise I will never ever iron again in my life. I will fill my house with kids and kitties and devote my time to looking after them. As well as my kitties I will have a couple of goats and chickens in the garden.
Now that I have jacked in my job I will need something to fill my time with, ok I know I will be busy with the kids and animals but we all need goals to aim for. I'd probably go off and study something like anthropology or zoology or archaeology and eventually get a little hobby job to keep myself busy.
I'd travel the world, visiting every continent. I'd go to Japan first and go to a geisha tea cerimony, then off to disneyland, a safari in Africa, a cruise around the Greek islands. Theres a big world out there and I'd want to see it all over my lifetime.
Phew thats just a start, if I win I'm going to be a busy bee. Sadly with the odds of 14 million to one my dreams are unlikely to ever come true. Oh well, time to get back to reality.
Summary: I'd have a great time spending my winnings.
