What would you do if you won the lottery?

Advantages: A life of fun and luxury

Disadvantages: Very unlikely to happen

Winning the lottery is a favourite fantasy of mine - although sadly so far I've only won a tenner a couple of times. But still, distant dream though it may be, its a nice little thing to spend time thinking about .

Now, the jackpot varies - and I'm not greedy. I don't mind sharing the jackpot - I reckon a couple of million would be more than I knew what to do with .

The first , and most boring priority would be to pay off all my debts - these aren't huge, but they are an inconvenience, trying to remember to leave the money in the bank for that £5 payment to be taken, and being charged 40 quid when I forget by my bank. My debts are less then 10k, so its really only a small drop in the ocean .

Second step would be to move away from the area I'm currently living in - a rough council estate a few miles from Nottingham City Centre, complete with its quota of asbo teens, wife beaters, drug addicts, and clapped out abandoned old fridges. I have a few areas in mind - all within Nottingham still as I have family here. First in the list of 'desirable locations' is The Park - a gated estate next to Nottingham Castle . No joyriders, unless they perform some dukes-of- Hazzard style stunt tofly over the gates . No shops selling pikey cider and microwave pizza, just a quiet residential area with character houses form a mish-mash of periods.

I have my dream house pictured in my mind . It would have to be old, with character - I can't stand all these new-builds- and not *too* pristine. It would have a proper hall, not a door that open right onto the living room like my current house. The kitchen would be big enough to include a table seating six, and the living room would have to have real floorboards and a roaring fire, with doors opening out onto a patio area with a built in barbecue, a small ornamental pond, and seating .

There would have to be at least four bedrooms, a master with en-suite, a room for me to sulk in if the fella was snoring, one for my daughter, and one for guests . I'd love for the master bedroom to have views over the castle, and the garden would have to be privately enclosed, with plenty of room for my dog and cat to roam .

Naturally, I'd have some help in the house - someone to just come and help with the cleaning every so often (I don't intend not to do ANY of it, but someone to come in and do the floors and windows for me would be ace.)

I'd have a bit of a makeover - I've not actually been able to afford a haircut for 2 years, so my hairs pretty long and not in the best condition. As well as the hair, I'd get my nails done - something I've never had before .

I'd also buy a flat in Nottingham, as a gift for my daughters dad, from whom I am seperated. He currently lives in Liverpool, and its hard for him to see AJ as much as he'd like .

Some money would of course be set aside for my daughter for when she turned 18 , to be used for college and towards buying a house /getting married/ joining a hippy commmune or whatever else she decides to do with her life .

I'd pay off my parents mortgage, buy my brother a house, and pay off the mortgages of a couple of very close friends, as well as buying my brother a motorbike.

I'd visit the many friends I've made over the internet - taking my daughter with me . I'd do this during the holidays and make it something of an educational tour - I have friends in Holland, France, various USA states, Germany, Alaska, and Canada among others , and I'd love to meet them in person . While in France I'd spend a little time looking for a holiday home - preferably in some small fishing village known for its excellent wine and particularly potent cheese.

I'd entertain friends - but no fancy sophisticated parties for me . I may have money, but I'm still a mosher, and cheap lager, pizza, and a pack of cocktail sausages are still enough to keep me entertained.

I'd give money to charities close to my heart - various orphanages in China , Cancer Research UK , PDSA, and others .

Most of all though, I think I'd like to start my own business . I'm part chinese, and I;ve always been fascinated with chinese art . I'd love to open a shop selling oriental ornaments and paintings, perhaps visiting China once a month to aquire new wonders .

And of course, I'd relax a little - just knowing that I didn't have to worry about money anymore would be a wonderful feeling . Honestly, I'd be happy just to win enough to pay off my debts and be totally free of them - that in itself would be enough .

Its still a dream - but hey, It could happen!
