I just came across this discussion after somebody had posted in it and then started to think about what I would do if I won....thought I may as well share my dreamy thoughts!

If I won the lottery is a question I suppose many people ask themselves although apart from the obvious things how can you really say what your life would be like after winning? After all things would probably change to some extent and you might find yourself thinking in ways you never had before because all of a sudden you can do things differently should you so wish to do so!

I guess the obvious things would be to pay off any existing debts and buy myself and my wife our home as we currently rent - this alone would be huge asset not having to ever pay rent again or even for a mortgage! I would want to treat everybody who has helped myself and my wife over the years when we've been strugggling to pay bills and other things. These would mainly be family mostly along with a couple of select friends who have been there for us. I suppose how much you decided to spend on them would also depend on how much you won.

I always thought that it would be wise to put some aside for my children (although I don't have any yet!) so that when we have them you wouldn't need to worry about basics for them and also I always like to think I would invest in something that could give me a hobby that would also provide an income for me should anything ever happen to the money I'd won - I have always fancied owning a few properties and being able to spend time modernising them and then renting them out.

I think I would definitely stop working although my Wife insists she would do some voluntary work with animals as she would love to knwoing that she didn't have to worry about working to pay bills. I can't honestly say I would do voluntary work as after all I might say it now and then never do it but, I can honestly say I would donate money to charities that I felt sdeserved it. Although I would like to be more involved like in the show 'The secret Millionaire' where they can actually see what their money is doing and not just donating it and not knowing what good came of it!

Obviosuly life would be easier without the worry of having to make ends meet to pay bills but, I like to think what the most the precious thing the money would give me is 'time' and by that I mean by not having to work myself, I would have more time to spend with friends and family that I often don't see now due to long hours in work and therefore have hopefully a happier overal life!
