Ever since the Premiership began in 1992 Sky have been the major player in Live Football on TV and I have welcomed that because they after all paid all that money to secure the rights to show these live games and that should be the end of that but apparently people think they should be able to affect something that they are not even part of like ...  Read the complete review

Before I go on about football, I want to take the chance to remember a great patriot that died this weekend. Their contribution and efforts to the country will be greatly missed to us all. Lets have a minutes silence for Barry Took, Ladies and Gentleman.Without this warrior of filler TV would never have been gifted with?whoops ive lost my trousers ...  Read the complete review

.....could be how much we pay if the current system continues! It's bloody ridiculous if you ask me. The old deals were bad enough, but the new ones? What is the world coming to when the chances are we might not even be able to watch the next world cup? And then there is the whole pay-per-view fiasco with digital TV. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Why I am not looking forward to this season (916 words)
by - written on 09/08/01 (Very useful, 57 readings)

Having studied the schedules for football coverage next season I came away very disappointed. Firstly I would like to say that I do not believe that anyone covers football as well as SKY. They have had exclusive rights to almost all football for the past 10 years and have perfected its presentation. The BBC always do a good job but in my opinion ...  Read the complete review

It has been reported today, that unless we are willing to travel to Japan or South Korea in 2002, we are unlikely to see any World Cup matches, as the BBC and ITV have refused to pay the amount requested to secure the broadcasting rights for the matches from the tournament. The rights are owned by a media company from Germany called Kirch ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review I Hope that Pay Per View takes away the 'TV fans' (456 words)
by - written on 10/06/01 (Useful, 13 readings)
Rating:

I really hope that pay per view takes off. I am not a fan of football on television. It encourages people to sit inside on a saturday afternoon (or Sunday/Monday evening now!!), when they should be out supporting their local team, not going to watch Man Utd or Liverpool or whoever they 'support', by paying to see them on television. Why ...  Read the complete review

Being a big Arsenal fan, but living in North Wales (I'm not a glory supporter, I was born in North London), I don't get many chances to watch the Gunners. That's why football on TV is so important to me. I used to make do with Match of the Day highlights every Saturday Night, which was fair enough, the coverage is good and all matches ...  Read the complete review

I think that it is now becoming impossible for the average person to afford to watch football on televison. All the top football is going to commercial stations, and particularly Sky and OnDigital- the problem is most of us including me have not got the money to pay for this. Now that BBC has lost Match of the Day, it makes you wonder how long ...  Read the complete review

Amidst the news that surrounded the announcement of the new deals for English Premiership football matches from 2001/2 onwards, many people failed to notice the ramifications of the deal that was struck for the other main divisions of English football - currently the Nationwide League Divisions 1, 2 & 3.
