Venus WilliamsNewest Review: ... if their grades dropped). As a keen amateur film maker he also got them used to being on camera. Venus Williams turned professional in October 1994, aged just 14. It was agreed at first (with Richard) that she would enter only a few tournaments and that she wouldn’t travel the world or allow her school work to suffer at that age. Even now, tennis isn’t everything for Venus ... more |

Following the conclusion of Wimbledon 2001, I saw several opinions written on men’s champion Goran Ivanisevic, but strangely none on Venus Williams, so I decided to put this right myself! Here goes… Venus Ebone Starr Williams was born on 17th June 1980 in Lynwood, California. Her parents are Richard and Oracene Williams (now separated) and she has three brothers and four sisters (including fellow tennis star Serena). At 6’1” (about 1.83m) she’s one of the largest women’s players, and has done a lot to change the women’s game to one in which serves and power are more important, like the men’s. Venus was ... I've always said I liked the womens game mor ethan the mens game as the mens game is all about power, but often the female game is about technique. The WIlliams sisters, however, are changing that. Extremely talented players like Martina Hingis are being blown away by equally talented but extremely powerful players such as the Williams sisters. I'm not saying this is a terribly bad thing, because in the Womens game unlike the mens there is still room for technique and skilful shots. Venus Williams is completely firing on all cylinders at the moment, claiming Singles and Doubles titles both at Wimbledon and the Olympics. It'll take something ... Read the complete review

Venus Williams is just an amazing tennis player. she started off in a poor area in America, and has worked for everything she has got. She deserves it. Her style of tennis is a joy to watch, as her opponents hellplessly try and get another ball over the net. Her run of 22 matches i think it was over the summer was amazing, and it took a great player of Lindsay Davenport to bring it to an end. she also plays doubles which is good for the game, and she beats Martina Hingis regualrly which says something about her. She could go on to become one of the greatest players ever........or she could go to college. I sincerely hope she takes the former option ... Read the complete review

wimbledon 2000 what a tournament i was a ball boy there and i ball boyed for the one the only Venus Williams. She is such a talent and i thought she would win her first grand slam ther. Theunbelievable thing about her style of game is how hard she hits the ball on both sides. She steps in and takes it early and gives the opponent no chance to think. Also her seve is fast and accurate and wins alot of points. ... Read the complete review

Last year she went twenty two games unbeaten, she won two grand slams and a Olympic gold medal, that’s just in singles and she won countless tournaments with her sister Serena Williams in the doubles. This year I think she will be even better, she has the right mental attitude and the determination to succeed. She may not be graceful in defeat which annoys her opponents, but no-one likes losing. She has the physique, the all round game to be one of the greatest tennis player ever Just think she won two grand slams after missing half the season with a wrist injury. In my opinion she represents the new stage in women’s tennis, more and more ... Read the complete review
