Wimbledon, A film based on the game of tennis at guess where? Wimbledon.

I like these sort of films so was looking forward to it and it did live up to expectations being geniunely funny, laugh out loud funny in some cases.

It begins with a British tennis player, Peter, coming to the end of his career entering Wimbledon for one last time. He meets a girl, Lizzie, a young up and coming American, and falls in love, despite the attempts of her father to try and stop them seeing each other.

Peter's game of tennis suddenly improves dramatically and he wins games against higher ranked players whom he is expected to lose to. He puts this down to his nights of love with Lizzie and she becomes a type of good luck charm.

Unfortunately Lizzie crashes out of the tournament in which she was expected to do well, and her father blames Peter and whisks her away. She doesn't put up a fight this time, blaming Peter also.

Peter is devastated and his game goes to pieces, unfortunately, in the final. Luckily Lizzie sees his pre-match interview on television and realises he wasn't using her but really does love her and rushes to Wimbledon. In a timely coincidence the match is rained off as Peter is losing, giving Lizzie the opportunity to see him and tell him she loves him too. She gives him some tips about his opponents game and when play resumes Peter's game has miraculously improved leading to a nail biting will he - won't he end.

I won't give the end away apart from to say they do end up together and live happily ever after!

The film has a real feelgood and heartwarming end. You don't have to be a fan of tennis to enjoy it. I went with someone who never watches Wimbledon and she thought it was great.
One to see if you like a good romantic comedy.
