It's the reverse for Wolves though under Mick McCarthy, he a very under-rated and much maligned boss, this time last year flying up the table and never looking back to seal the Championship from big rivals Birmingham City, and enjoying the fact that West Brom went ... more

With Carson Yueng's purchase of Birmingham City ten Premier League chairman are now foreign and so could effectively close the premiership down by starting their own league elsewhere, or at least take premiership games abroad. If you don't think that will happen then think again. Last Sunday a regular season NFL football match took place between The New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers some 6000 miles away from their home grounds here in London. If you bear in mind the Bucks and Patriots fans get just 8 home games a year in the regular season then it's a big chunk out of their season ticket. But over in the US the league is a franchise and if the fans ...  Read the complete review

Last year saw Wolves get promotion to the Premiership via the playoffs, returning to the top division, somewhere they were used to playing in regularly not so long ago. Their long, proud history counts for nothing so far, as two humiliating defeats at Charlton and Blackburn showed them up. Still rooted to the bottom of the table with just one point from five games and a goal difference of ?11 things may look slightly worse in the light of day. Wolverhampton are going to rely on a mixture of old talent that got them into the Premiership and a few new players for their first campaign. Much of their promotion drive was centred on a few key players. Paul Ince ...  Read the complete review

Well its nearly half way through the season and Wolves are still in the top half of the table, 3nd in fact. This I believe will be the season, signing Kenny Miller will secure that place I feel. We may have paid £3Million for him but in the long run he is a young player who wants to play for Wolves. Tomorrow we take on Birmingham in a bid to stay in the automatic promotion place. I will predict a 3 - 1 win. This game will be featured on the ITV Sports Channel so hopefully in front of the camera's we will rise to the occasion. ...  Read the complete review

Although the situation at Wolves is not as bad as it might have been, the club are certainly a shadow of their former past. For a club who were once competing with the greats of European football, relegation to the old Fourth division must have been virtually unbearable. The rot set in with the building of the John Ireland stand which left the club virtually bankrupt, and forced to sell their best players, in a downward spiral which saw relegation after relegation. Luckily the clubs fortunes have been revived by the influence that Hayward has had. His money has rebuilt the stadium into a 28,000 all seater stadium that is among the vest in the country. His money ...  Read the complete review

Wolves F.C.: Dave jones is new manager ! (152 words)
by - written on 03/01/01

Dave Jones returned to football management after nearly a year out of the game today when he was appointed the new manager of Wolves. The 44-year-old former Southampton and Stockport boss has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract to succeed Colin Lee at the First Division club. Lee was sacked before Christmas with his side just one point above the relegation zone. Three wins out of four games under caretaker boss John Ward subsequently lifted Wolves into the top half of the table. Wolves' chief executive Jez Moxey said: "We believe we have found a manager with Premiership credentials." Jones' first match in charge will be against ...  Read the complete review
