In reality however, many women feel strained and ambivalent about maintaining their stereotypical gender roles whilst trying to indulge their other desires, careers, hobbies etc. and ironically, some advertisements actually reflect this, when it is in fact a stereotype that they themselves are reinforcing. Premium Review Women and Society in general: Women in advertising. (328 words)

In advertising, women exist in a stereotypical and limiting capacity, and are often associated with domestic roles, a view solidified with popular culture. Women are portrayed as mere domestic providers who do not make significant decisions, and are largely seen as sex objects who rely on males, occupying the home and confined to a domestic sphere. It can be argued, however, that maintenance of gender subordination in world cultures has been largely due to fundamental universal functuions and values of the family. When I was a student, I had many dreams of meeting that lady of wonderment and femininity that would take me places beyond eroticism and bland trivia she would ooze with warmth reap with abundance of eye watering curvatures, When spoken her voice would make my ears quiver with excitement so much so I would feel slightly imbalanced. The best joke of last month was during David Letterman's monologue on his follow up to his extravagant sexual antics on the show backstage. He said that women are so pi**ed off with him right now that even his 'satnav' is not talking to him! I know how he feels. I love women but not all of them love me on dooyoo right now. But women should be women and not let feminist make them feel guilty if they don't want to be super moms. There's nothing wrong with having kids, staying at home, having coffee mornings and enjoying the life you want. As long as the government doesnt have to pay for it mind. In Leeds the bin men are on strike. The rubbish is piled high and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Women and The Great War (3091 words)

In this op I will attempt to assess whether or not the most important change in Britain during the First World War was the increased status and independence of women in society. There are very few who challenge the generally conjectured, orthodox ideal that The Great War had hugely diverse, devastating effects for all concerned, be they economic, social or political. The increased status and independence of women in society, was but one such effect. There is evidence to suggest that this was one of the more widespread ones, and perhaps the most positive. I feel that it was also the most important, and the most significant, but nonetheless, there are various ...  Read the complete review
