The Working Week: Do We Work Too Many Hours? ... UK worker works a 43-hour week, whereas the average European works around 40 hours per week. The European Commission has opened legal action against Britain to force the UK Government to reform British employment law so that employees cannot be forced to work more than 48 hours per week. British labour unions have celebrated the news, commenting that this will lead to a cut in excessive working time, and reduce stress. Are you overworked and stressed? I have had several jobs since leaving school and I have to say I have enjoyed working in an office the most out of them all. I particularly enjoyed temping when I was in Australia where I worked in a call centre in a bank. I think it was because I was not under any stress to work to deadlines and anything I did was a major help to them so they appreciated me a lot. 1. Where do you work? My working week In the past I have had numerous jobs ranging from bar man, to an engineering officer on a ship.
