Advantages: Banish These Things Forever For A Better Life
Disadvantages: Lots
I have always thought of myself as quite an easy-going person however lately I seem to be getting less and less tolerant towards certain things, and more and more frustrated at the weird and sometimes selfish behaviour exhibited by others. Hence as a result here is my list of the things that really really irritate me the most. I'm sure that some of them probably annoy you too.
I hate it when I have to go to the supermarket alone for the weekly shop and end up with a huge trolley full of stuff. You pop it on to the counter and don't get any offer of help to pack from the ever so helpful check-out operator. They then proceed to fire your items through the machine at double speed before you have even finished unloading from the other end. By the time you get finished with this task and start packing half of the stuff is squashed due to the limited space on the front part of the counter.
I find it absolutely appalling when I hear mothers swearing and hitting their children. Don't get me wrong in my opinion kids all have the capacity to drive us nuts on occasion however I really don't think that this is an appropriate way for adults to behave. I believe that shouting and hitting is losing control and furthermore what messages is it sending out to the poor little souls experiencing this treatment. It makes me wonder that if the parent thinks its alright to behave like this in public what sort of treatment do these poor kids get behind closed doors. A little bit worrying if you ask me. Furthermore hitting a child is assault and it could result in a criminal record being had by the offender!!
I get so frustrated when I record a programme on sky plus and come home after a busy shift and try to play it back only to discover that it has only part recorded. I have to say that on occasion when this message comes up the programme does play in its entirety however it can be so frustrating to watch something and miss the last five minutes when usually this is where most of the plot of various "who done its" and dramas get revealed. Irritating or what.
I have a mobile along with most of the rest of the population however I am one of those people who gets a bit embarrassed when it goes off in public. Hence I tend to set it to pager or vibrate so that it doesn't make too much noise. I certainly think that mobiles are a very useful item to own however is it really necessary for people to talk so loudly on them about the most intimate aspects of their lives, and on a bus or train so everyone in the vicinity can hear what they have to say. In addition you get the people who think that we all appreciate their type of music and insist upon playing it so loudly that we can all hear it. Unnecessary. I think they should be charged with breach of the peace. So frustrating and selfish.
I have never had such a different number of postmen delivering my mail since moving to Glasgow a few years ago. This is not my gripe it relates more to the fact that I end up with items of mail going missing and receiving other peoples items in error. This is not an occasional occurrence I hasten to add. This is such an inconvenience as you then have to go and deliver it to the correct person yourself. I have also had recorded delivery items which I have to say where of value left inside yes that's right inside my wheelie bin. How dumb can you get? In addition when they deliver a parcel they literally give you ten seconds to get to the door before they drive off in their vans! I know that they have a hefty workload I would however be interested to find out how many complaints they receive on a daily basis. I have also had mail going missing from the sorting office to the local post office. A distance of a mile between the two buildings!!
The days of chivalry are certainly a thing of the past. Is it too much to ask these days to have a door held open for you. I was shopping with my son recently and we were coming out of our local boots store. There was a man in front who instead of holding the door open let it go just as my wee soul was leaving and he ended up banging and trapping his arm in the door. I don't get mad often but I tell you I gave him a piece of my mind that day.
If people want to smoke then that is up to them. I am certainly not criticising and am all for freedom of choice. I personally having worked in the Intensive Care Unit would not recommend it as I have seen some heart-breaking sites after long-term cigarette useage. (Please don't think that I believe all smokers to be inconsiderate by the way) However I do get really irritated by people who smoke in crowded streets like Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow and as they pass exhaling you end up breathing in a lungful of their fumes or get sprayed with fag ash due to a stray flick. Furthermore people who smoke in areas which are non-smoking like the hospital grounds or outside primary schools is very unpleasant.
Botox overload. Oh my goodness is this not the worst so-called beauty treatment ever invented. In small amounts I suppose that it has a benefit and has some medicinal properties however Botox addiction really is scary. I refer everyone to the likes of Joan Rivers (she looks like a still-life picture taken from the scream). A permanent odd expression what happened to taking things in moderation folks. My irritation factor here is due to concern for the youth of today who are exposed to this nonsense. There is no such thing as eternal youth. Grow old gracefully for goodness sake!!!!!!
Daytime TV game shows Golden balls, Going for gold, The weakest link Spin Star need I go on. There must be something else that can be put on in there place. Initially yes I suppose they offered some slight entertainment value however I believe that most of them have now run there course. Some presenters who are a bit more animated wouldn't go amiss either. However there is only so much you can do to in still a bit of excitement into these programmes!!! Mind numbing.
Well there we have it a few things which irritate me, I could happily go on forever however I do not wish to sound like more of an old moan than I am already. Let me know if these things irritate you too!!!!!
Summary: Stop These Things...................Please
