Disadvantages: Torture and death of animals in horrific circumstances
I am an animal lover and albeit I eat meat I will only eat farm assured outdoor reared meat from trusted supermarkets such as waitrose and local farm shops, so animal welfare is high on my list of priorities in life and hence the debate of to wear or not to wear fur is definately to not wear, ever.
I have researched the industry of the fur trade and each and everytime I do and furthur look into it I am appauled, disgusted and sickened by the brutal and unnesscessary torture that it brings.
If any human being in their right mind, and had any emotion of mental quality about them wore fur then they would only obviously not know its true brutality of how it got from the animal to being on its back. Ones that do have this knowledge and yet still wear it are beyond recognition for me and disgust me.
It is seen as a wealth statement to line your skin with fur clothing and sheeting and yet I have never been able to understand how animals that are kept in tight rusty filthy cages, in blood and feaces stained factories with disease and and workers dripping in dirt can at all in any shape or form concieve to wealthiness, as this is simply squalor. It is filth.
There are no guidelines when it comes to how and where which piece of fur comes from and hence when purchasers of fur go to the factories where all the cleaned and formed pieces are sold they have no actual idea of where the animal came from, how it died, and what history it had, as they are all grouped together hence the deeper disgust of this industry.
Animals which are used for the fur trade are generally kept in brutal conditions and suffer great and intense physical suffering and mental conditions. Their death is something that can only possibly be carried out by a barbarian through electrocution, beating, and the most despicable of them all being skinned alive which is a common practice in china for cats and dogs to be sold in america and europe.
When you see an animal and you picture what is done could you yourself smash it over the head, slice its back legs of the skin, hang it up and then rip its skin off to the end of the nose? If you can then you can most probably entertain the thought of wearing fur, I for one however cannot, and the fur trade as a whole is one that should be and should have been abolished centuries ago. An evil atrocity.
