Wrestling! Along with Football have been the two constants in my life since the age of about 5. Of course, Im talking about American Pro-Wrestling. The Soap Opera. One of the biggest (or formerly) financial markets in this World, proprietry namely Vince McMahon - owner of the World Wrestling Entertainment, formerly the WWF. Wrestling! Or rather Sports Entertainment as Vince McMahon of the WWE would much rather have you define it. Older Brits of a certain age might remember those heady days of large men in singlets battling away on World Of Sport on ITV on a Saturday afternoon in the late 70's and early 80's. UK Cable viewers and Americans will know WWF which became WWE after the folks with the Panda logo won a lawsuit, they should also know Billionaire Ted Turners WCW, Paul Heymans ECW and some of the lesser promotions that followed them more recently like CZW (with their emphasis on Extremes and Violence, wrestling in a more backyard style), ROH & TNA who both ... Everybody who watches wrestling knows it is fake but that is not a reason to dislike it. It is a great form of entertainment, people who think wrsetling is completely fake should watch the documentary 'beyond the mat' by Barry Blaustein and be prepared to eat some humble pie! Back when I was a kid i used like wrestling because I was young and really liked the ultimate warrior and Hulk Hogan, but nowadays Hogan still wrestlies which is embarassing enough but I wont talk about that. Nowadays wrestling is aimed at a much older audience, the monthly pay per views are normaly classifed as certificate 18 or 15, all the people in the crowd are average age ... Read the complete review

WWE-detractors generally make a number of claims which, examined in more depth, ultimately prove to be specious: namely the assertions that wrestling claims to be a sport when it isn't, that it is fake, and that the old, cartoonish era of wrestling was superior to today's product. Wrestling is not a sport, and neither does it claim to be: rather it is 'sports entertainment', a description analogous to that of the West Wing as a 'political drama': it is a drama based around a sporting theme. Now, one could argue that the theme is not of sports simply because wrestling is not a sport, but this is an obvious circular argument: what goes on ... Read the complete review

I've been a dooyoo member for a few months now, and as many of you may have gathered, I am a huge wrestling fan, as huge a fan to ever grace the dooyoo pages (With a few exceptions, oops) some would say. Most of my opinions do reasonably well, in the sense that they are usually read a fair few times each, but if you ever compare the amount of reads I get from a wrestling op, to the amount of reads I get for an op on any other subject, you should see a vast difference. Most people on dooyoo don't really care about wrestling and have no care for reading ops about it. So in this opinion, I'll tell you all the main reasons I love the sport, and give a bit of ...
