YokozunaNewest Review: ... to have him laid down, but to no avial as he was thrown over the top rope and Yokozuna was going to Wrestlemania to face the then WWF champion, Bret "The Hitman" Hart. At Wrestlemania Yokozuna did pick up the win over Bret Hart via cheating, but soon after Hulk Hogan ran in and made Yoko's first reign a mere few minutes long. At the King of the Ring later that year Yokozuna won ... more |

Yokazuna broke into the WWF ranks towards the end of 1992 to devatisting effect. He played a monster heel who was managed by Mr. Fuji and was said to hail from Japan, a long time rival of America. In reality he hailed from Samoa and was related to such superstars as Rikishi and the Rock. His weight, at the time around the 500 pound mark and his good workrate despite his size meant he got a mega push by Vince mcMahon. By the time he entered the 1993 Royal Rumble he hadn't even been knocked off his feet yet! But that was put to the end when the Royal Rumble came down to teh final two; him and the legendly Macho Man who managed to have him laid down, but to no avial as ... Read the complete review

Yoko is one of the most devistating wrestlers ever. The only wrestler who comes close is Undertaker. When Undertaker entered the WWf he dominated and Yoko dominated when he entered the WWF. Yokozuna had many matches over the year and my most memorable is his match at wrestle mania 9 against Bret Hart. He won it easily in my mind and then Hulk Hogane came down and challenge Yoko. Yoko excepted and he ofcourse lost (due to having been wrestling for 20 mins before). Yokozuna had a good career and i am not entirely sure why he went. It could be due to his health or to the fact that he could only be beaten if he was double teamed or taken out by Bret hart, Lex luger ... Read the complete review

Yokozuna was one of the greatest ever wrestlers. The big friendly giant will be missed by wrestlers and fans alike. He tragically died in his hotel in Liverpool on a wrestlemania tour when he had a heart attack after seeing a spider. Yokozuna won the WWF Heavyweight title on a few occasions as well as holding the tag titles with the also sadly missed Owen Hart. Yokozuna was amazingly quick for his size and was a great asset to the WWF. Unfortunately in 1996 the WWF were really cruel to Yokozuna telling him to go away and come back when he had lost weight as they didnt want him to die in the middle of the ring. Although this was disrespectful he ... Read the complete review

When I first began watching (and liking) WWF Wrestling, I watched programs like WWF Superstars and Wrestling Challenge. These always featured matches where actual regular wrestlers were fighting one-timers. I specifically remember seeing Yokozuna fight against these 'jobbers' as they are known. He used to destroy them without the slightest trouble. Of course this was when I believed it was real (God, I forget what that was like!) anyway, I thought this guy was just unbeatable until I saw him face Bret Hitman Hart at Wrestlemania 9. With the help from his annoying valet/manager Mr. Fuji's handful of dust he beat Bret Hart for the World title, but seconds ... Read the complete review
