Premium Review Zoos: More than a Pet’s Corner. (588 words)
by - written on 09/10/01 (Very useful, 163 readings)
Rating:

When we visit a zoo it is normally during a holiday or as a day out during the summer. We pack up a picnic, plan our route and off we go. As we wander around the zoo we will marvel at the variety of animals and laugh at their antics, or be amazed by their abilities. We tend to be very superficial and I must admit that we don’t very ...  Read the complete review

Dream with me baby, I need you to take a deep breath and open your mind and dream with me. Man, Zoos are not cool. taking animals and putting them in cages and keeping them penned up for our amusement. Man that is brutal and it don't change it a bit having some educated bloke running around telling us about what they eat and how ...  Read the complete review

I have to say, I love the zoo. I always have - I used to get exited when my Mum or Dad said we were going, or when I went on a school trip. The same with sea life centres. Anyway - my point is that zoos are simply not cruel. Yes the animals are kept in captivity, but they are kept in pretty big, certainly adequate enclosures. I ...  Read the complete review

.... thats all this debate comes down to. I can't exactly leave this opinion at that though, partly because i've got more to say on the issue and partly because it doesn't fullfil the 75 word minium requirement! The issue regarding whether Zoo's are cruel or not cannot be simplified that much. After all, like ...  Read the complete review

Zoos: Kind or Cruel (244 words)
by - written on 07/10/01

When I was just a wee one I loved going to the Zoo and would bug my mum every weekend to take me it was always great fun especially watching the animals getting fed but although I enjoyed it is it really fair to keep animals locked up in what tends to be very cramped conditions just so we can enjoy ourselves after all how would we like it. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A - Z = E (990 words)
by - written on 06/10/01 (Very useful, 631 readings)
Rating:

This subject can be neatly summed up in the following equation:- A - Z = E I can see some of you looking mystified, so I will be kind and clarify matters. If 'A' = 'Animals' and 'Z' = 'Zoos' (or zoological gardens for the fussy folk amongst you), then it is surely easier to realise that 'E' ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Zoos: Vegetarian and Pro Zoo? Surely Not...... (1507 words)
by - written on 04/10/01 (Very useful, 1347 readings)
Rating:

I admit it openly, I'm a vegetarian and its purely for moral reasons. I dont like the way animals are killed and I think humans abuse their power too much when it comes to our rather less intelligent fellow dwellers on this planet. For some reason humans seem to get a kick out of taming a wild and ferocious animal, sometimes even ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review An Necessary Evil (879 words)
by - written on 28/09/01 (Very useful, 320 readings)
Rating:

Are zoos necessary or archaic remnants of a past which saw the amusement of human beings put above that of animal welfare? An interesting question and one which could be answered in the affirmative for both sides. I have no strong views on the subject although animal welfare is important to me, but feel there is a simple arguement from both sides, ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Zoos: The front line in the battle against extinction (3089 words)
by - written on 28/09/01 (Very useful, 3208 readings)

Animals have been kept in captivity for thousands of years, however it is only very recently that this has been for the purpose of their conservation. This opinion examines the development of the zoo through history, and goes on to consider the roles zoos play in the conservation of animal species, and their importance. History of ...  Read the complete review

Children and most Adults enjoy going to the Zoo, although these days, it’s mainly because there is an amusement park attached to them. There is a lot of controversy regarding Zoos and whether they are cruel or not, but a lot of people seem to forget the fact that Zoos are important in means to conservation. The main ...  Read the complete review
