The Cheapest Black dishwasher
Member Name: aksram
Advantages: black, many cycles, pre wash, half load
Disadvantages: nothing really
My dishwasher broke down recently and I thought I will buy a cheap dishwasher but wanted specifically a black one. Looked around in many shops like comet, Curry's and online and found this one- BEKO DSFN1530B. I bought mine from laskys online shop for nearly £215 delivered - i got it at this price with their price match service.
My first impression when it was delivered was that it looked fantastic- shiny black with minimal buttons at the front. Most of its buttons are concealed on the inner panel so all you see in front is the 'Start' button.
Grading and performance-
It has the full AAA rating- i.e the best in cleaning, energy and drying performance. Although it isn't the best like Bosch's cleaning but still it works well, does the cleaning well and dries the utensils inside. I did notice that it dries the glassware perfectly well but when it comes to the steel or metallic pans, there is still a fair amount of water droplets on it. But i think this is quite common to all/most dishwashers. I haven't used it that much to see the change in my energy bill but since most of the times I use its economy cycle with temp of 50 deg C.
It has various cycles including a re-wash which helps while using the extra dirty/stubborn food stuck to the pans.
1)Pre-wash- No heat- used to loosen residue. After this pre-wash, a cycle needs to be selected. consumes appro 4 litres of water.
2)Rapid cycle-35 deg C- for lightly soiled dishes. This is a 30 minute programme and there is no drying in this cycle. Just wash-cold rinse and hot rinse. this consumes approx 11 litres of water.
3)Economy cycle- 50 deg C-This is the most economic programme for normally soiled dishes. Does prewash- wash- cold rinse- hot rinse and drying. This takes up about 15 litres of water. This takes 136 minutes
4)Quick and clean- 60 deg C-This takes just 58 minutes and still does a good job for normally soiled dishes. There is no pre wash in this and the rest are the same as economy cycle and takes up only 12 litres of water.
5)Intensive cycle- 70 deg C-This is for heavily soiled dishes. Here the pre wash cycle runs hot water and it also dries the dishes. Consumes 17.5 litres.
There is also a half load facility which is quite handy when the dishwasher isn't full.
Operating the dishwasher-
-Push the on/off button and check the programe indicator lights are on.
-Check the salt and rinse aid level indicator lights.
-select the programme required.
-Press start button and check that the function indicator light comes on
-Close the door and the programme starts.
If you want to change the programme while the machine is operating, just press stop button, open door and select the programme. Interesting thing in this is that the new programme starts from the stage the last programme stopped. this is really great as my previous Bosch one would restart the whole cycle again.
The starter pack comes with a water hardness test strip. Once you know your tap's hardness, you can add salts appropriately.
It has 12 place settings.
FYI- One place setting comprises of a soup bowl, dinner plate, side plate, cup, saucer, glass, 5 cutlery pieces and additional serving utensils.
Noise level is 54db. In ours the noise seems a bit more because of the extended water/drain pipes but otherwise it is pretty manageable.
All the other racks and baskets are flexible and can be placed at different positions.
Overall, I think this is really a good dishwasher for that price range and especially if you are looking for black ones. Definitely recommend this.
Summary: Great dishwasher for a cheap price
